7/10 I liked the tension of what the fuck was gonna happen, but now that we know it doesn't end with anything that bad happening other than Jax ruining his own life like the twerp he is, there are a lot of scenes that drag on and dialogue that is far too obvious. Everybody in this episode was basically telegraphing what the audience should feel in each moment rather than letting them get their own conclusions, like in the previous episodes. And I really think something horrible should have happened to end the episode properly. Goose keeps saying Jax will do something unforgivable, and unless its telling Pomni her life doesn't matter to him (I hope it isn't, that's lame) then I think it would have been way more impactful if he done that atrocious act this episode.

The gun stuff was so in Pomni and Jax's favor from the start that it was kind of an unpleasant slaughter of the characters that I actually like and the therapy stuff was laid on thick especially with Jax but I did like that it didn't treat Ragatha too badly for once and it was nice seeing Zooble be an active participant in the game.

Fantastic action, extremely good animation and sound design, really interesting set pieces, great characterization, humor that was both funny in the traditional set-up punchline way and also some off-color humor I genuinely didn't expect (insert "I'm right behind you aren't I?" and Zooble Sex joke here), fun character dynamics, and multiple subversions, but GOOD subversions. The series has been set up in such a way that you could believe any of the abstraction fakeouts would happen this episode, but none did, because this is a good series that doesn't always take the easiest paths and takes the time effort to set up bait, before springing it, rather than just changing the story based on where people THINK it would be going. It also had a lot of scenes of "sitting and talking," but they were actually interesting and tense, because of how quiet and drawn out they were - the Jax Pomni scene near the end was genuinely uncomfortable because of how obviously Jax didn't want to be involved in it, and the Ragatha Kinger scene in the loser's area had me on edge. My only real complaint was the Zooble Gangle scenes sometimes felt too mushy, but these characters like one another, so if

The pacing of this show is godawful, every episode just comes to a screeching halt so the characters can have a "muh feels" conversation and this ep is the worst offender because they did it fucking thrice. I feel like Zooble, Gangle, and Pomni haven't dealt with a lot of abstractions so they don't really get what's wrong with the other three. I was promised a thirty-three minute action-filled hootenanny, and only got like 5 or 6 minutes of it in favor of a bunch of overly blunt character drama scenes that didn't feel like they really went anywhere. I guess I just wanted a couple more cool action scenes to space out the pep talks, because by the time it got to the one with Kinger and Ragatha they started to feel tiresome this episode, which inadvertently undermined the fight between Pomni and Jax.
The dark hallway setpiece was definitely a highlight of the episode, though. God I love jazz drums, I wish they were real.

This episode confirmed one thing for me and that’s that ragatha and jax are pretty much yin and yang, while both of their personalities have truth to them, they exxagerate themselves to the point of feeling like they’re putting up a facade, ragatha trying too hard to act nice to be friends with everyone while jax is trying too hard to be cruel to push everyone away. Hopefully they both can get over those problems but after this episode, I feel like it’s less likely for jax to do so.

Goose is very insistent that Jax is the absolute worst and that's why he's the favorite. Half of anything they say about the show online is about how Jax sucks and is awful person. And yeah, the show is not excusing his actions, but it is not portraying him as the worst guy ever either. Because every thing he does awful is followed up by a scene that shows he cares deep down, and truly evil people wouldn't even care. A true evil person would have said what Jax said in that ending without it being desperate cope, confirming he's just a regular scumbag and not actually evil.

I enjoyed it enough. Jax and Pomni growing more unhinged at their sitauation was nice to see.
I do think it was the best most organic 1 on 1 coversation this episode, I just wish there was a little more show don't tell, with everyone else and their relationships.

Goose's writing isn't bad, but it could use some work.

Better than ep. 3/4 and certainly better than ep. 1 but not quite as good as ep. 2 and ep. 5 were. The first two therapy sessions should be cut in half or given less generic dialogue but the jax/pomni one was fine. Kinger was at his best here, and the shots in the dark scene was good.

I think its more likely he made Kaufmo abstract than Ribbit. Ribbit does strike me as "this is the reason I don't love anyone anymore" rather than "I killed them".
