Count calories, all of them.
Eat about 500-1000 less calories than your TDEE.
Buy scales, be accurate.
Learn to cook. Try to stick to lean protein and green vegetables.
Eat a lot of protein. 0.72g per pound of goal lean body mass.
Doing cardio, even just walking, will improve your health. There is no such thing as a healthy fat heart, but you can offset the risks.
Lifting weights will keep and gain muscle mass and lose fat much quicker. Not lifting results in the body eating away muscle AND fat.
Drink more water.

First time posting here. Excuse the blogposting but I wanted to share my progress starting in early July at 6'2" / 246 lbs. Currently 225 as of this morning. Pic related.
I'm mainly judging progress by my weekly average since I tend to hold onto a lot of water weight (which is what every fatfuck says but still) and fluctuate a few pounds from day to day. I've also set benchmarks to try to hit by the end of each week but I've fallen short of the last few. Not really worried about it though since I'm still averaging about just under a 3 pound loss per week.
Been doing about an hour of modest cardio per day (walking and light jogging) + a somewhat physical job. Currently taking vitamin supplements and eating two small meals per day. Not being super rigorous about counting calories but I'd estimate about 1,000-1,300 daily. First two weeks were a nightmare but as long as I stay hydrated things aren't too bad. I'm actually surprised at how steady progress has been, though I have a feeling I'll start reaching my first major plateaus soon.
For my height, I'm looking to reach around 200-210 and lower my BF% since I'm still pretty pudgy looking. Oh well, at least I'm not obese anymore. By the way, is there any 'optimal' or preferred time to weigh yourself? I've been doing it around 9:00 each morning.

after a good shit/piss in the morning the odds of getting thrown the water weight curve ball are reduced. It will just get balanced out on the trend line, so it is a very minor optimization.

Not on its own. You can pair it with something else as you did with greek yogurt but now you’re well over 200 calories which is more than a meal and still less filling.
I don't eat a lot (OFFICIALLY). Yet I am still obese. And I know why: Despite only eating two meals a day, I munch on snacks throughout the day.
I've been in denial I know. I somehow never considered the caloric impact of the snacking I do after the two meals of the day.

A) Arms will lag big time, you cannot move the same weight as if you hit them fresh and the fatigue from pushing and pulling isn't enough to stimulate growth past newbie gains
B) Your joints will never recover
Some genetic freaks make it work but most of us aren't genetic freaks. Plus why use so much volume and days in the gym when you are new? Steve Reeves built the best natural physique of all time on 3 days a week. You need rest days once you become a horsecock. Your progression will be better doing a 2-3 full body or UL or Torso Limbs. Most natty pro Bodybuilders don't train 6 days a week, you don't need to either. Legitimately trying to help. 6 Day ppl=sacrificing intensity for just showing up more.

I lucked out, and my hand works fine. The surgery was crazy though, there's like a high chance of a nerve getting touched and my hand would stop working for a couple months. I mostly have pain from anything involving external rotation, pushing, and hammer curls. They threw me in a brace for a good 4 months thinking it would heal, but it totally didn't. So I got a second opinion and surgery late march. I will say though it is quite humbling to be back at a 30 pound bench

Worked for me. The eye opener for me when I tracked calories on everything I put into my mouth for few weeks. I realized I mainly got only like 1500-1800cals from daily meals and almost the same from all those "it's only a small X" things I inhaled throughout the day without even noticing.
The solution for me was to quit snacking 100%, only eat the normal meals and that's it. Now 20kg down and counting.

I think it can't be generalized. If your deltoids can handle 5 days a week training, then they should get that. Mine get grumpy after two. Every time I design a PPL or U/L I end up adding things that are already recovered to get more sets in and it turns into a nothing plan, but very optimized workout.

Almost certainly recomp. if you were out of action for 8 months you probably lost muscle mass but gained significant amount back through muscle memory. there are cells called myonuclei cells (
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Myosatellite_cell) which are created when you gain muscle but aren't really lost when you lose muscle, and those cells help build muscle.
Theres a study on this
https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/1827108/ where they showed that if you took 6 months to build X kg of muscle, and then you lose X kg of muscle, it will take on average ~6 weeks to regain it back again.
That's probably what happened in your case, you're regaining muscle significantly faster than you were previously

That's called binge eating, I used to do it when I was stressed in a shit job. Your body uses food to cope with something and can make you insatiably hungry. GLP1's can help but thats a bandaid fix, you need to figure out whats causing you to binge and try fix that. For me it was finding a new job in a new field that I actually love.

It's literally just one pot and a cutting board. You chop it all up, throw it into the pot, let it barely boil and go jerk off for like half an hour. Then you come back and there's a finished soup. Okay maybe you stir it once every 15 mins or something but even if you don't it'll probably be fine.
Best thing is you don't have to clean different pans and shit. It's all inside one thing. Which is also the container for it while it's in the fridge.

Ahh, so roughly where 160 is on my chart. I was thinking about that as a second potential goal weight if I don't like 180. I'm going to stick around 180ish for awhile and see if I could maintain this weight and recomp a bit for a few months. Going from almost a year of eating TDEE-1000 to suddenly eating just TDEE was a huge change having an extra 1000 calories to spend everyday really opens up so many options, but its still easy to get carried away, I went back to TDEE-1000 this week to correct and bring myself back under and it worked very well, going to 160 would only take a few weeks...like this, it is tempting.

That'll stabilize if you can stay at your new weight. Goal weight is very rarely goal body, it takes about a year for your fat to redistribute, and your skin to reach a new equilibrium point. You can also spend that year lifting and that'll also certainly improve your physique as well. Usually people still look like shit when they hit their goal weight so don't worry too much about it if you're not looking good yet, keep at it and give it time.

My uncle is around your height and he used to shop at a specialty big and tall clothing store that had t-shirts specifically tailored for guys like you. It was like a brick and mortar shop that you'd drive to and talk to a sales associate and the guy would measure you and stuff and pick out clothes for your specific level of bigness and/or tallness, they had options for even the oddest combos of bigness and/or tallness, don't know if those are still a thing since nowadays people just get stuff from the internet where uniformity is king, but it was at one point, maybe look if there is a big and tall store around your area they might still be around.

I wouldn't recommend any fasting longer than 72h. The longest fast I did was 7 days and it was utterly miserable. I did about a month of 5 day mon-fri fasting; weekend refeeding, and even that was rough. What I settled on and was pretty sustainable was 1week where I did 72hour fast, followed by a week where I just ate reduced calories, then I'd alternate back and forth, only doing 1 72h fast ever other week. That one was pretty nice and not really difficult to stick to.
Fasting is pretty extreme in general and not something you should really do often even as a megafat, typically its best just stick to reduced calories. That said I did find fasting to be pretty effective at breaking cravings and addiction to things like sugar or simple carbs. After fasting I didn't crave those things like I used to, but is that really worth how hard it is on you, not really sure. I found it helpful.

If you're already lifting then 80% of your gains will come in the first few years and you will basically never lose them as long as you're eating in a caloric surplus and not sedentary (and by sedentary I mean absolutely bedridden, never walking or doing any form of light exercise)
A pound of muscle only burns 3-4 more calories each day than a pound of fat, if you have any idea of how hard it is to gain 20 pounds of muscle after your first year of lifting you'll understand that it's impossible to lift your way out of being fat. Unless you're a serious bodybuilder that has been lifting for years your body composition will have a negligible effect daily on your TDEE, the difference between the average dude that goes to the gym and works out vs a guy that doesn't is maybe 300-400 calories a day. That's like two donuts.
You cannot lift your way out of being fat, and it is much easier to eat the caloric difference that's the result of gaining 15 pounds of muscle than it is to gain said muscle.

Some people find it easier and if that's the case for you then yes you should do keto, but some people do not find it easier, so they should not. Every diet has pros and cons, is avoiding all carbs easier than possible satiety issues depending on your specific diet? Only the individual dieter can answer this, but I promise you that plenty of people counting calories and eating carbs do not "feel like death every day".
Many ketocultists try to say that keto is the ONLY solution to weight loss, which is flat out wrong. The twinkie diet would obviously be miserable and not long term sustainable, but the fact that it produced results proves the ketocult to be false.
