>Ryzen 7 7800X3D for โฌ420
>i5 14600K for โฌ250
>Ryzen 5 9600x for โฌ240
So many choices, so little money...
>>106125981 (OP)I think cpus are more important to overall video game performance than gpus for the majority of games. You'll get more returns from a high end cpu than you will from a high end gpu if all you do is game
>>106126077do you really need anything more than a 9600x?
>>106126077>>buy 9800x3d for โฌ400 from Amazon nowcheaper than it is here
>>precariously balance living expenses down to โฌ300 left by the end of the monthmaking life and death decisions to use the latest tech I see

>>106126077Just get a 12400f for pennies, maybe even buy used.
>>106126093real 1280x960 gaming hours
>>106126077If you're hurting for money, the price difference between a ryzen 9600x and a 7600 is unjustifiable. โฌ70 more for 5% extra fps.
>>106126139Unless you're at 4k, modern gpus have kinda figured out 1440p. 1 percent lows and rendering physics in games makes more difference if you're like most people who don't play the latest and greatest games at 4k. How many games benefit substantially from a 5080 over a 5070? How many games benefit from a 9800x3d over a 7600? Not even to mention if you do anything outside of gaming the importance of a good gpu isn't even close
>>106126182at 1440p you're still nowhere near close to being necked by cpu thoughbeit
>>106126193It's not about bottlenecking at that point
>>106126193incorrect, many games scale up with cpu-loads dramatically depending on whats happening.
Outpost Infinity Seige is almost unplayable at the final-end-game without a top-end cpu due to all the crazy physics calculations. UE5 games in general are both cpu and gpu heavy. Chart-autists like you do not see such things, data analytics only goes soo far, in gaming and irl.
1440p is a nexus point where the cpu is almost as important as the gpu if you want to game at a premium fps+fidelity level.
>>106126159lets see you game on 960p at high fps in dwarf fortress with 2cat and a mediocre processor fag
>>106126077>9800x3d for โฌ400 from Amazonhuh?

>>106126539since boards have nearly everything integrated already, its only a problem if you want you use multiple gpus, and there are blower cards made for that exact purpose
>>106126528add xt/ti and amd still faster

>>106129155NTA but looking back on last thread you seem confused as to why people are jumping to OLED in strides.
Truth is OLED is a very good deal.
4k 240hz was basically unobtainium a few years ago. Talking upwards of $2500+
OLED has cut that price in half and the panels are better performing in everything but brightness.
The $1200-1500 for a top end monitor just seems to be that range where more people are willing to buy. Even without a 5090.
Upscaling has also really made it more attractive to buy more monitor than you reasonably drive natively. Older games are also trivial to run at high resolutions/refresh rate.
I guess it is confusing why suddenly everyone wants a high end monitor and it is because they are more affordable than they have been. LG and Samsung really did a number in the relatively stagnant PC monitor market where the high end wasn't even talked about because pricing was so retarded.

What do you mean by "more monitor"?
> The $1200-1500 for a top end monitor just seems to be that range where more people are willing to buyYou know, it's still expensive, and there are no such prices in my country, it's probably closer to $2500-3000.

This is a US centric website so things are going to be from that perspective most if the time.
If an OLED has an insane price in your country then it probably doesn't make sense in anyway
I know some people have mentioned that OLEDs are more expensive even relative to the general high prices you get in most countries outside the US.

This card uses the latter. Slightly longer power & ground pins, slightly shorter sense pins.
In any case, it's not really an issue with this card. Both from the alternate cable routing (allows a more gentle bend), and the ~330W rating.
I find I much prefer using only the lower cable in the pic vs that 3x 8 pin adapter up top.

Just get one that has a lot of good reviews on Amazon (that way you can just return it if it were a dud). The import part is if you aren't gonna get a PCIe adapter and use a M.2 one instead to make sure the one you are buying matches the keying your mobo's open M.2 slot expansion slot supports (B, M or B+M, and/or E+A). Mobo OEMs have tried to standardized keying support for all shapes but double check it.

I don't understand in the sense that I already have a 2k monitor, I can only switch to OLED. You meant a situation where someone has a weak GPU and a 1080 monitor, they can buy a new 2k monitor to play with upscaling, which is reasonable. But when you already have a 2k monitor, it's kind of weird to talk about more monitor.

>>106132905At that low of refresh rate you'll actually get better motion performance from swapping your gaming display to an OLED (keep the 32U for static content) because the 0 ms response time transitions clear each frame refresh cycle disproportionate faster (also better contrast/colors for Yakuza/FF immersion). See your monitor vs. equivalent OLED Heatmaps in picrel and here:
https://www.rtings.com/monitor/tools/compare/msi-mpg-322urx-qd-oled-vs-gigabyte-m32u/84697/27393#test_1435
Even @ 60Hz/120Hz frame caps you would be going from 6-13 ms of total response time to under 1 ms because baseline OLED motion does not get worse at the framerate lowers.
I'd suggest put your money into that over a new GPU for a more meaningful gaming experience upgrade.
Also the Super refresh of the 5000 series is due out in a few months anyway with much higher VRAM anyway which would be helpful @ 4K in the long run making currently GPUs an unattractive upgrade path IMO.

Gpus are DESIGNED to handle multi-monitor setups, you don't need to do anything crazy to get it to work, its been well over a decade+ since normal retail gpus have been perfectly capable of multi-monitor activities.
>>106132979A 5080 will be $1500 after tax and still 16gb on a card that was supposed to launch with 24gb
>>106133330Yeah and my computer at start makes noises for 5 minutes, stupid fan, but wich one. Hope i will avoid another DRILLING procedure for lubricating.
>>106133330The PSU doesn't draw 1000W from the wall at all times. Your problem could be even worse than that and might need an electrician to check it. Try removing the GPU and see if it will boot, assuming you have an iGPU. Whole house breaker trips immediately after startup or only after a time?
>>106133444Yeah, I sort of figured it wasn't pretty. Bad PSU seems likely as it trips more than just one circuit. Will probably try the GPU removal bit tomorrow, tired of lugging it back and forth between the work table and desk. Just want to cry at this point.
And it doesn't trip on startup, it trips when trying to boot from a kubuntu boot drive. Bios loads up and everything looks normal. I'm gonna borrow one of them things that measures wattage from a friend's father and test it when they're available.
>>106133463Actually... It couldn't be the boot drive for some stupid reasoning could it?
>>106133330Buy a 30 amp breaker and replace that gay 15 or 20 amp one that's tripping.
>>106133470lol also a potential option. I wouldn't be surprised if it's just a nuisance trip story.
>>106133482I had a shitty breaker that kept popping when the ac would come on, on its own different fucking circuit. I just replaced my computer room circuit one from 15amp to 30 and haven't had a problem since.
>>106133463Unlikely that it is from turning on a drive.
What is the voltage rating of your PSU and what does your house use? Most modern PSUs should work with the typical 120-230V range though.
>>106133506Yeah, but would it really happen for two different circuits? In all fairness they're both 15amp, but that should still handle a 1000watt PSU with a part power draw of only 635watts, right? both of them can't possibly be THAT shitty.
>>106133515120volts on 15 amp switches. Hardly anything else running on them either, and tested two separate ones.
>>106133470This move can cost him fried computer component right?
>>106133515Breakers are about amps not voltage. It's total current that trips them.
>>106133521Thats only like 5 amps, the breaker might just be a piece of shit. Just replace it and thank me later
>>106133536If lightning strikes a breaker won't save you. That's the only time I see peoples electronics go out and I have worked helpdesk for isps across the country for like 18 months. I have never heard of a power surge from the electric company actually killing anything, only lightning struck my house and my electronics exploded and there are scortch marks on my outlet.
>>106133265hybrid graphics is a windows 11 feature
you can plug your secondary monitor into an amd igpu and let the nvidia gpu be used only for the main monitor
Is 32 gigs or ram enough for gaming or should I get 64?
>>106133285>>106133326people normally do what you're thinking of on an igpu to let the main dgpu downclock and save power.
but the way you're thinking of doing it makes this moot since the rx580 uses a lot of power on its own
>>106133549Is that even advisable? If something is tripping it's tripping for a reason. Is it that common that a switch is just shit?
>>106133563I mean if something in psu is shorting bigger amp breaker will allow to burn out a bit more, but i doubt or he dropped his psu or hit it or maybe there a screw haha.ha
>>106133583Maybe short spike of something not sounding good. 120 * 15 = 1800 watts.
>>106133583A breaker tripping at 5 amps and rated at 15 is probably a bad breaker. Assuming a 1000 watt psu, that's like 8 amps max. And a breaker is like $10 while a new psu is $120. Try the breaker first.
>>106133656>>106133605Yeah, I'm gonna test what wattage it's pulling on startup when I get the right equipment to do so, and then we'll see if it's the PSU or shitty breaker.
>$120Twice that for me sadly. Could probably return it if it's bad. Surely going to fight newegg on it if they tell me no.

The cheapest version of the 9070 XT is $960 CAD. For comparison's sake that would be $700 USD. Still $100 over MSRP but still $100 less than the cheapest 5070 Ti so.....I guess I'll get it.

Apparently, I have an unopened Amazon box that I had for so long hiding in my closet, checked inside and found a Silverstone 1200r PSU that I apparently ordered in 2023. Any fun build? My current is a 6900xt 5800x, i play on 1440p.
For 800 USD, is it possible to do better than this for 1080p gaming?
So...
In the light of microshart dropping support for win10 soon, is 9070 xt is the only good choice for loonix?
Not to mention 9070 ti is almost 200$ pricier in my country
In other words, is this enough cope for going AMD?
What is the general opinion on RTX 5090s? Now that they're mostly available, I'm considering buying one. Do I need a model priced at over $3000, such as the ROG Strix, or are models priced at around $2400, such as the TUF or Ventus, "good enough"?
>>106134625>ROG Strix*ROG Astral
>>106134625You either get an MSRP model like the FE or spring for the Asus astral/astral LC for per-pin current monitoring, no in-betweens.
Im looking for good cases that have many preinstalled fans. Any recommendations? I really like Antec but their cases usually are without fans
>>106134625My personal review is that the 5090 is just a bigger 4090 that runs faster and uses proportionally more power, at about 33% more power for 35% more performance.
Because its usually power limited, it also doesn't undervolt as well as the 4090 so forget about undervolting and be prepared to build around its 600W power draw if you want stock 5090 performance.
Also, the drivers are fine and I haven't ran into any annoying bugs so far.
>Do I need a model FE is the cheapest, MSI Suprim has the best noise/cooling and ASUS Astral is the most differentiated with 12vhpwr pin monitoring so I'd recommend choosing from any one of those models. I personally have the Astral and I'd say the 4th back fan is annoyingly loud but it can be worked around with a software fan curve in msi afterburner.
>>106134672>Astral and I'd say the 4th back fan is annoyingly loud but it can be worked around with a software fan curve in msi afterburner.Another workaround is to just switch to the secondary quiet bios. It has a far saner fan curve than the default performance bios
How can I enjoy 4k gaming without buying a 5090??

But it really is between the 9950X and 9960X for me, I think for my usecase it's close.
