"Upgrading" to one product tier above from the same year from 15+ years ago does not sound like a worthwhile investment of your time and money. Are you hiding out in the deepest jungles of Madagascar or something?
Anons, why are 4090s as expensive as 5090s? You've always said that "whenever a new series drops, prices of the previous ones go down".

Not sure if anyone will bother with the wall of text, but here we go.
Help a brokie out. Is Logitech G G402 Hyperion Fury as good as it gets for budget gaming mice for my case? (Also base price comparison for everything else listed below. Everything else is wired unless mentioned otherwise.)
I need something with at least 3 side buttons. (I know some of them here are CPI adjustment but programmable according to rtings)
I have been using wireless mice for years and I love not needing to bother with the cable (broke things by getting tangled with the cable in the past), but for gaming mice going wireless increases price noticeably compared to wired variants.
I also prefer something that is not loud. (Though used a loud mouse in the past, I am willing to compromise here if need be)
I tend to be rough with mice, so durability is important (Logitech stuff, while not great, tends to last at least a year with me. Not sure how other brands compare.)
It is also bigger and heavier than the mice I am using. I have small hands and I prefer smaller mice. Though I used a mice with comparable size and weight in the past and it wasn't that bad?
Thoughts? It goes for 25 bucks where I am. Anything better in this price range?
G502 Hero exists as an alternative, but doesn't seem worth 60 % higher price.
G305 Lightspeed also exists as a much more competitive alternative. Lighter and smaller than G402. Wireless to save me from cable BS. But has only 2 side buttons. Also clicking is louder than others listed before. Only 30% more expensive than G402.
Last Logitech option is G502X. Despite being on the bigger end it is relatively lightweight. Has a similar side button layout with programmable extras. Has free scroll mode on top (I know I need to compromise on tight budget but I miss having this). Unlike other mice listed before, it has optical switches, which should mean more durability I believe.(Worth nothing that side buttons only use mechanical.) Though it is on the louder end

and costs 90% more.
I am aware of durability issues that are common with logitech mouses. I know double clicking/not clicking happens after a while. Though for the price I guess I am content if it lasts at least a year.
Is there a durable alternative in similar price range? There are "endgame gear" mouses for 2x price that are purportedly have "high quality", though I don't know if this is a reddit meme or I can really count on them to not cause any problems for years. (Though again, wired with only 2 side buttons.)
Another alternative is GLORIOUS Model I. Big but lightweight. Mechanical switches purportedly rated for 80M. Has 4 side buttons. Quiet. But ugly and exposed design, I am worried that water or something coming from top will short circuit something. And from a quick google it doesn't play too nicely with linux and 60% more expensive.
GLORIOUS Model I 2 Wireless, as the name suggests, wireless version of this. Has wired, USB receiver and bluetooth modes. The rest are similar to above. Thrice the price of 402. Has Amazon second hand option available for half of that price. Supposedly checked by Amazon but again, I don't think it is rational to trust random minimum wage worker there without technical skills to test it properly.
Razer V3. 3 side buttons, big and moderate weight, quiet. Optical switches. Limited Linux support so need VM to reprogram. Twice the price.
Razer Basilisk V3 X A wireless version of above. Slightly heavier. Mechanical switches. Same number of buttons. Bluetooth option alongside receiver. 2.5 times the price of 402.
1st Note: Again I am also on Linux. So in terms of programming inputs stuff like KDE settings and solaar play nicely with logitech, that's one of the reasons, alongside price and familiarity, many considerations are among them. I don't fully know for sure if I am going to be out of luck with other brands.
2nd Note: After typing all of this out, maybe G502X and Razer V3 are better values, but I am not sure.

LAMAOOOO!
We are getting workstation for my work.
Starting with 128 GB in 1 slot. as soon as money allows - 512 GB (4 slots).
In future upgrade to full 1024 (8 slots).
128 GB will be minimum and can't even use the CPU fully with it (64 threads compilations, plus VMs and servers).
On 256 it will work fine I suspect, while 512 is for many heavy VMs.

To add on 5700x3d is no longer cheap.
Nor is ddr4 memory. Paying sixty bucks for 2x8 ddr4 is nuts.
I assume google is giving you bunch of reddit posts where idiots there are ogling builds like that but that is very outdated now.
You can swap CL30s for memory if you feel like spending 10-20 bucks more.
You might get a different B850 too, I picked it more or less randomly.
7600 seems to go cheaper than 7600x and 9600(x) where you live. There is not much performance difference between them, but you might swap to 9600(x) if it goes down.

Frequency only has a linear relationship with power while voltage increases power by the square of itself. Undervolting in most cases reduces power draw significantly even if you raise the frequency at that voltage point.

It was much more straightforward than I expected. The lidded version requires that you add some washers to the cpu clamp to raise the height. The delidded version requires you to remove the clamp and screw in the provided plate.
And then the TDP and multipliers have to be manually set or else the CPU runs at like 2.1 ghz and 55w. I also bought a chink motherboard to replace my dead Asrock itx. I couldn't find where to set the multipliers on there.

The one thing to know is that Intel restricts their "xx1" chipsets to their own CPUs so don't buy eg. an AX211-based card. Aside from that there's really not much to them. Find out what WiFi speed your router supports (ac/ax/be) and sort by lowest. Buy the cheapest one with an antenna and heatsink.
>am4 (b550) if it matters
Do make sure your PCIe slot is actually active. Some boards disable them when you install an NVMe in the second slot. I don't think it was much of an issue on B550 but loads of boards have come out since I was last in the market for one.

idk if this is the "please help me fix my shit" general but if it is:
my rx6700xt is spazzing out, i have it since march last year and i don't think it gave me much issues until january this year, where it would not output video after wake from sleep mode and/or hibernation. It did that for a few weeks and then just started working properly until mid july, where it started having those same issues again. Except now it's even worse, before just a power cycle or two would fix it, now it just straight up refuses to actually work (plugged in but acts as if it's not there at all), so last week i decided to try with my old rx580 and that one worked immediately. Day after that, not wanting to give up on it, i tried the 6700 again and it worked somehow, and since then it kept working (but i stopped using sleep mode/hibernation all together, i just leave the pc on during the day and shut it down completely during the night) until today, where i turned my pc on like normal and it gave the same issue again. I'm currently with my rx580 again (which again worked right away) so i'm asking if i should rma this shit or try something else. What gets me is that the issue is specifically down to booting, once it boots up then it works as it should, tried benchmarks and just normal ass games and it works without fail, no crashes or artifacts or idk driver timeouts or anything (i also tried the rx580, that one too works as expected), but if it fails to boot then it will just refuse to work, again as if it's not even plugged in even after multiple power cycles.

didn't try that but my mobo (rog b550-f) has another slot which apparently shuts down the other pcie slots to work or something? Didn't want to fuck up shit more than it already is, plus again the 580 works just fine (seemingly) on the same slot

ye did that, i should've mentioned that when i don't get a video out i don't get a video out at all, the gpu just doesn't post. So no bios, no safe mode, no anything, i can still access the normal boot via my laptop with parsec and/or steam link, aka virtual display drivers

I just skimmed your post because you didn't bother with the enter key, but I've kind of casually noticed that the 6700/xt/50xt are kind of prone to burning up. Not built to last or pushed too hard by default or something.
Is it just restarting? What happens exactly? If it's just a restart/shutdown with nothing else probably psu, black screen with fans going crazy = driver issue or degraded core/memory probably maybe, just black screen = nearly dead card or something totally unrelated like a weird pcie slot issue.

sometimes when i boot the pc up the gpu just doesn't work, as far as the rest of my pc is concerned the gpu is basically not even plugged in, even if i powercycle and whatnot multiple times. When i try another gpu (rx580) that one works just fine, and last time i tried switching the 6700xt then started working again after like a day of not being used, and kept working for a little over a week (until today)

Is that whole 9800X3D Asrock drama even real? 99% of it is from a single Asrock leddit. You would think those massive chink forums full of people with direct links to AIBs and such or thousands of customers reviews all over the internet would mention it. But there is nothing and every article talking about it links to that one place.
Looks to me like usual 1-2% failure rate that's always happening but for some reason it became a meme.

RAM on AM5
correct me if I'm wrong
2x24 or 2x48 are better (faster, more stable) than 2x32 or 2x64, but 2x8 or 2x16 are the fastest and most stable
6000mhz is most stable... so why do AM5 boards support up to 8200? it's easier to get better timings on a higher binned kit ie if I get a 8200 kit and set it to 6000 it'll be easier to get tighter timings ie 30-30-30-30
2x? is better than 4x? every time

So the just released (and currently OEM-only) RX 9060 Non-XT is slightly slower than a 5060 despite being both a bigger and denser die (199 mm^2 w/29.7M transistors vs. 181 mm^2 w/21.9M trasistors). I can see why AMD won't release the card for the wider DIY market as it seems like they'd be either unwilling or outright unable to price it at a level to be the better buy in the segment of the market where value is the most important (not to mention AMD won't into volume GPU production to save their lives).

as someone who was the biggest TN apologist prior to getting a modern IPS panel I can tell you with confidence that I have never experienced motion blur
motion blur is a product of response time and PLENTY of IPS panels these days can do true 1ms and 2ms response times so it really shouldn't be an issue man
also its not just viewing angles but color too. even when you adjust these newer IPS panels to settings where they get true 1ms response time, the color is still a lot better than most if not all TN panels
but again if you're hellbent on TN then search through amazon, plenty of weird brands on there that won't show up on pcpartpicker

One of the new 1440p 500 Hz OLEDs (MSI MAG 272QP X50 or the Samsung Odyssey OLED G6) is gonna give you the least motion blur above 1080p because of the 0 ms response times. It'll be equivalent to a 750hz non-strobed LCD.

>not buying oled.
You REALLY should reconsider it, if you're serious about motion performance as the ~0ms response times coupled with the lack of any pixel overshoot will result in each new drawn frame fully transitioning over from the previous one in a given refresh cycle window faster with no settling time and therefore resolving to cleaner apparent motion with less blur than almost any e-sports TN panel (most all of which are only 1080p). See picrel.
Moreover, because of the effective instant response times you can then use CRT Beam Simulation shaders to force a refresh of the image to further retina persistence of modern sample-and-hold displays which is not something most LCDs can accomplish.
https://blurbusters.com/crt-simulation-in-a-gpu-shader-looks-better-than-bfi/
You already have an IPS LCD so just run it as your primary desktop/browsing display and then switch over to your OLED for gaming/video in a dual setup if burn-in worries you (easy 8-10 years of lifespan that way). Plus there's the advantage of perfect colors/contrast which TNs are notoriously poor at it.
>but on the topic of blurbusters, what am I supposed to do from that website?
Read in-depth articles on monitor motion and new technologies to improve it? Also use the UFO Test to check your displays real motion performance (there are many test parameter options available in the top menu scrollbar and make sure you close all other apps beside the browser to prevent errant latency from causing window sync glitches with your display's native refresh rate).

Is the 9800X3D worth it over the 7800X3D?
I mainly play video games in 1080p (I have bad eyesight and it looks perfectly good for me), I also play a lot with AI, both Stable Diffusion and local Local Language Models (Sillytavern) which is pushing out my hardware requirements.
This is what I'm planning to get, does it look good? I absolutely need this much RAM and VRAM for DCS World and AI.
Also, I'm completely and utterly clueless about motherboards. I just buy something relatively cheap but not the cheapest.

It's a good 10% upgrade on the cpu depending on the task.
I'd recommend at least a b650 or b850 motherboard with wifi. Going cheap on a motherboard isn't a great move, especially with a higher end cpu and ram.
64gb is a lot of ram and might not be entirely necessary unless you do a looot of non gaming productivity stuff but if you want it get it.
Graphics card is fine but you can always consider a used card if you can find a better one around the same price.
I'd definitely get a different psu because that one has enough watts but isn't great quality and you also don't wanna buy a bad psu. You can look up "psu tier list" online and it has a bunch and their general rating. Aim for at least a B tier one and tailor the rest to your budget, 750 watts is plenty.
A quality motherboard usually comes with multiple ssd slots so you can always upgrade storage later by just getting another ssd if you need more space.
In short, get another psu and motherboard. It should work fine for your purposes

You'll get better overall performance, even at 1080p, with a cheaper less powerful CPU + beefier GPU combo.
I'd actually recommend a cheap 14600K-based system as it's 87% the performance of the 9800X3D for only 41% of the price.
Plus the old LGA1700 platform will let you use still-pretty-fast-but-cheap DDR4 ram which adds up in savings since you want 64GB for AI.
https://www.techpowerup.com/review/amd-ryzen-7-9800x3d/18.html
https://www.techpowerup.com/review/galax-geforce-rtx-5070-ex-oc/30.html
Then you can take some of savings and grab a 5070 or RX 9070 for higher FPS than the 5060 Ti.

Currently working on building a PC and I need some advice. I have a 9700X and an MSI B650 Tomahawk, and now I'm looking at options for the RAM. Would it be better to just go for overall compatibility with 6000 CL30 RAM, or would 6400 CL32 be fine? From the MSI QVL it says it supports 6400 CL32 RAM by a manufacturer I'm looking at, but I don't know if I should just go for the 6000 as it's pretty much standard and would 'just work'. Sometimes the 6400 is a little bit cheaper here, but it's not much good if it won't work, obviously.

It literally doesn't matter. DDR4-3200CL16 has the same effective first-word latency as DDR5-6000CL30.
You can see for yourself:
https://notkyon.moe/ram-latency2.htm
Memory performance in client systems only matters when you plain run out of it and start having to page to the system drive.
>Also I want a 16 GB card for AI. Honestly I wanted a 24GB but then I saw the prices. Any tips on how much $$$ the 5070 Super 24GB versions will be?
You could spring for the RX 9070 16GB over the 5070 for only an extra $70 then:
https://pcpartpicker.com/product/KXkqqs/asrock-challenger-radeon-rx-9070-16-gb-video-card-rx9070-cl-16g
>Any tips on how much $$$ the 5070 Super 24GB versions will be?
No one knows yet, but I'd wager maybe a $50-100 premium over the vanilla 5070 since they are adding extra CUDA cores to it so ~$600?
Also the 5070 Super will only be 18GB, it's the RTX 5070 Ti & 5080 SUPERs that will get 24GB.

Whichever kit is cheaper. 6400CL32 stuff is basically identical to 6000CL30 and will run at the "slower" ratio just fine if the default advertised speeds give your mobo any trouble.

I'm not trolling, you might have a CPU bottleneck. Is it an older CPU? A 3070ti is a perfectly fine card today.
also 128bg of RAM will not fix your problems. you should only be using dual channel ram for gaming. if you have all 4 channels filled up with 128 fucking gb then you are bottlenecking yourself there as well.

Selling it is the default simply because it has a universal upside (money). The other for personal use is a backup PC, and/or as a NAS.

It is never a good idea to plan to only play older games and indieslop because sooner or later you'll want to branch out and realize you just can't. On the other hand the only way you can do that nowadays is to purposely buy old equipment to arbitrarily limit yourself. A 5050 is as low as it gets for today's market and it will still always be able to run newer games even if imperfectly and at lowered settings.
ITXes are more expensive than mATXes due to their relative low demand. Don't turboskimp on the other parts just to fit its image of being a small case PC.

Then that can't be right. The 3070 Ti is upper class and with DLSS should not have issue reaching 80+ when you lower settings as much as possible. Using 4k monitor and resolution? Still even so there must be some other issue, not every modern game is demanding. Drivers up to date?

I'm more confused now? but the way he's explaining it, it's going to look blurry unless you match it to your monitor's refresh rate?
so what's the point of the test? do the good monitors maintain clarity when it's moving at a velocity faster than your fps?

Sorry, you literally got the short end of the stick. This upper class card is theoretically almost as strong as a 5060 Ti 16GB and yet its hampered by half the memory. My advice? Yeah if you want great perf you will want to upgrade, but wait for the 5070 Super by the end of this year or early next year. The base 5070 12GB is +35% horsepower over what you have, while the expected 5070 Super 18GB will be more, plus enough VRAM that you WILL NOT go through this exact same problem ever again for many years.

>so what's the point of the test? do the good monitors maintain clarity when it's moving at a velocity faster than your fps?
Yes. The ideal monitor is one that can resolve motion without trailing artifacts from overshoot or smearing from pixels that don't transition from one color to another instantly regardless of how fast the content being rendered on-screen is changing. The issue is the faster the pixel needs to change the greater the penalty for slow response times of LCDs gets hit by.

I am aware of what DyAC can do, but it still has some issues with cross-talk at the top/bottom of the panel not updating at the same time as the middle portion because screens refresh in pieces at a time (from top to bottom, and left to right). Also you'll still have overshoot because of how hard the overdrive of these TNs are being pushed. Also image duplication on occasion. CRT Shader-based frame interception or full-field BFI of OLED is the better option.

that's not exactly an endorsement of TN. she talks about how she only preferred the TN panel in old esports, like CS VALORANT OW, but preferred the OLED in all her other games, like her other more casual shooters like Apex and The Finals.
also how DYAC gave her headaches after a few hours.

Because he's right. What makes image quality "good" to the human eye has been studied for ages by display makers and the industry and is known:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lkC7rKCHFvQ
^Listen to Kevin Miller who founded the Image Science Foundation (a group that does certifications for professional calibrators) break it down from an HDTV shootout years ago:
https://imagingscience.com/about-us/
tl;dw Good image quality is derived from the sum of the following components in order of importance:
1. Contrast Ratio (included in this shadow and highlight detail), the picture must pop and if it doesn't nothing else matters which is why Torch Mode on TVs at Big Box stores exists at all
2. Color Quality (this includes both sufficient saturation and gamut which is why QD-OLED is beating WOLED's teeth in right now)
3. Color Accuracy (separate from #2 this is whether the color output matches the values of the signal is supposed to but also greyscale balance and tinting or lack thereof)
4. Resolution (both static and motion resolution)
That's right, resolution and motion performance are dead last in the order of priorities for human sight, which is why people held on to their SD CRTs & Plasmas over HDTV flatpanels for so long before OLED came on the scene, and why 4K TVs didn't wow us the way going from SD to HD TV did.
>>106244075
>so then all you really need, is a QDOLED, because WOLED isn't good for desktop stuff, it's meant for TV, with the black strobing effect, which is like OLED equivalent of DYAC?
Essentially yes. There's even work being done right now to implement Blurbuster's CRT Beam simulation shader into a general-purpose screen overlay for complete game compatibility:

That is correct. but even the 990 has firmware issues with drop outs, just over a month ago Samsung released an update that addresses that, which curiously enough is now gone from their website after I flashed it on two drives, I'm sure this will have no ill-effects in the future, rofl.
