After all the time you have kept on, i still have no clue what you're really looking for.
Is it practicallity, ergonomics, cozyness, being able to receive people at your desk or a combination of this all?
Fact is, the room you're currently using is as sterile and dead as a room can possibly be.
I have to admit, when you had your "multiple table and rearrangement-phase", it gave me a good laughter, but on the other side, i see a person, being deeply frustrated over his own inability to solve this problem.
Tiles are good to clean, they are the pragmatic persons choice, but they are soulless and transform every room into a depressing hellhole, no matter how much sunlight gets in.
My experience is that a room to thrive and feel well in, needs personality, a bit of cozyness, sunlight and warmth though atmosphere. You need pictures, furniture, and a wooden floor. You need stuff to put on the shelves.
Art deco, books and flowers or plants.
