Because Linux is not made for the "end user" in the first place. This is the answer. Linux is made by a grouping of people each working on their own projects which are useful or interesting to themselves and that's it. Some dude has a need of some program or feature, so he makes it because he wants to use it, but also makes it free for others out of the goodness of his heart. But he has no incentive to make this into a program for the "end user" since he just made something he had a need for, then let others use it just in case they need it. If I write a program for myself, it's going to solve my problem and be easy for ME to use, but I'm not going to spend time on optimizing it for the "end user" because my goal is solving my own problem, not opening some end-user software business.

Desktop Linux is made out of these kinds of programs. Nobody is worrying about the "end user" or what he needs. You even see this in major projects like Gnome which get actual funding from various places, so they're not just some dude writing something he needs for himself, where a user may ask for a reasonable feature for a reasonable use case but some trashmongler on the dev team tells him he doesn't actually need that.

Okay, so you have to spend 5 minutes reading the xrandr manual and another minute or so adding the xrandr commands to your .xinitrc file. Is this supposed to be a big deal, or is it just more "command line bad, GUI good" type retardation?

Unironically everyone would be better off if we went back to Internet devices being hard to use which functioned as a natural IQ filter. Normies would be happier because they'd go back to living in the real world, and nerds would be happier since the Internet would no longer be flooded by retards.

Apple's approach to their products+services is "Let us handle the difficult stuff, you enjoy the simplicity". That's fine with Apple because they are commited to it and created infrastructure that provides their customer support beyond just selling a laptop with an OS (with a price obv, but it's there). You can't get anyone to do that for Linux.

Why does video encoding for intel hardware not work out of the box on Linux?

Why do I need to install intel-media-va-driver-nonfree package because it's not installed by default on Ubuntu and Debian?

Why do I need to modify kernel boot parameters to load GPU firmware to use hardware accelerated video encoding?

Why is none of this done by default?

Why is literally everything in Linux like this? Bad defaults and anti-user design choices. It's like they want nothing to work out of box unless you spend 12 hours reading, installing, and configuring shit.

And the battery power management... Nothing works properly out of the box.

I don't think Windows users understand how well their intuition of how Windows works is. I don't think my understanding of Linux is much better than your average Windows gamer's understanding of Windows, and I have maybe one technical problem per year and just fix it in five minutes through intuition. I've never had trouble connecting a second monitor or installing Steam or any of these things that people somehow struggle with. People need to accept they'll have to spend a year or two as grandma doing a Google search for google.com and that that says nothing about Linux's ease of use.

If I told my tech illiterate parents to use a macbook they'd be completely clueless on how to operate it since it's completely different to whatever they used before.
The whole shtick with apple can be summed up to sunk cost fallacy, they spent 4000$ on a macbook and they don't want to admit they did fucked up, so they force themselves to learn the machine and put up with its limitations, linux is free, you haven't sunk any money into it, so there's no reason to fuck off when something goes wrong with it, however tiny and stupid that shit is.

Ublock origin is buried under a ton of paid crap for Safari. Still haven't found a good free dark mode changer. Do Mac users really pay subscription fees to block ads and get dark pages with white text? I still haven't found a good youtube downloader either. Been using the command line on Mac more than I do on Linux weirdly enough. Also why can't I ever cut-paste, why is maximize broken, why does the OS wants me to see my wallpaper so much behind windows, command is less intuitive to press than Ctrl, etc.
The battery life is awesome though and the hardware is obviously a pleasure.
Apple products are easy to use because you can only make easy things with it. If you try to do as I do it's harder than Linux. If you pay for your entertainment on Apple store and pay for software that is free anywhere else and stream everything then it's indeed easy.

I won't babby-proof my house even if I have friends/family with kids, not my kids not my problems, don't like my house, don't fucking come, I don't have a single reason to catter to their needs, it's the same with source code you can find on the internet.
code is distributed as-is, you're not entitled to a manual, safeguards or anything else really.
they make these software for themselves if you want to use them you're on your own, that's perfectly fine, no scummy business model, no anti-pattern, jsut the raw tools, use your brain to make them work, millions succeed everyday, why can't you?

Rossman is suffering from entrepreneurship brainrot, every fucking thing in his live is about busines
if someone makes something and distributes it, this fucking moron will bitch about user-friendliness, ask for the the blueprints and stalk your entire life because apparently customers are owned everything and then some nowadays, you can't just make something and move on, you need a fucking legal entity and a whole team to maintain it otherwise this narcissistic psycho will doxx you and rant about your nipples for hours
