Day in the life of a tech worker:

>Wake up at 10am
>do daily standup, my long hair is a mess and im wearing just a robe, dont care
>back to bed for a nap
>wake up
>masturbate to minors being sluts on social media
>complain about foids on r9k
>write code for 1 or 2 hours
>have lunch
>go get groceries
>check the time, wagies arent even out of the cagie yet, jfl
>get home and masturbate more

lately i've been wondering what's really the difference between working from home and being rich. because the main thing that people envy from the rich is not doing a 9 to 5.

Eh, that's a retarded mentality anon.
You can have a simple "format1 to fomat2 converter" published as open source. It's just so the interviewer knows you can actually write code without needing to be whipped.
I have three super simple libraries on github and it changed how interviewers see me, for sure.

Well, you're gonna waste your time with something whether you like it or not.
You can try to minmax interviews, learn keywords, pay a shady website to rehearse interviews, etc.
You can try to minmax your resume, use AI tools to pick the correct keywords, pay for common ATSs to form a feedback loop as to how interviewers see you, etc.
OR you can just do what you like to do, takes like an afternoon, and works better than pretty much any other option.
Since I published my libraries I realized I often skip the first HR filter calls, they just send me directly to meet my future boss on semi-technical interviews.
>Anyone can copy paste and push code to a repo.
Yes, it's not a perfect system. But it's still a great sign that you are not retarded and are "passionate about software".
Plus, they can ask you about your libraries and you have to talk about them. Pretty sure the jeetpasters can be easily filtered by a simple "So, why did you publish this?".

No wonder the processes take hours to complete, it's the most inefficient dog shit ever
>Realize that the department has essentially been run entirely by fresh college grads and the managers don't give a fuck because they're not technically inclined, work gets done right?
I just took one of the "this takes a few days to complete" projects and spent maybe an hour or two re-doing the whole thing in SQL, and now it will run in 15 seconds every month instead of 10 hours of pivoting and copy pasting and double checking across 300K rows in an xlsx file.

You know what worked best for me? I spent about ~2 months desperately trying to check off all the boxes like you said. Be the happiest and most eager guy. And then after about like 6 gay multi round interviews I realized it was all fucked. The final 2 I didn't give a fuck about and was basically a pissant having gone cynical about it and they both gave me offers. So what I learned is: make the interviewer feel small and irrelevant instead and their lizard brain will want to prove itself and appeal to you instead. TADA

Well, this is twice now that it hasn't for me. And I do understand general human psychology so it tracks. It's the same reason you don't put "openToWork" on your LinkedIn. It reeks of desperation and eagerness to please which is naturally repulsive to the choosers out there. Two have to care somewhat to make a potential match, but the one that cares less has all of the leverage. If prospective employers can sense that you're "better than them" they go all in. This last time it was a legitimate mistake, I had accepted another offer and was checking out and these dudes got so desperate they offered 50% higher than that. Ok

Anyway no, I'm not going to prune and preen a github repo in my off hours after 8-10 hours a day of soul crushing programming work and you can sit on a fist if that's your arbitrary requirement because I know your organization is mostly composed of illiterate unwashed 3rd worlders doing the same job for peanuts

I literally was threatened with a military charge for doing this at my other job. and even then still just re-wrote the script after visibly deleting it, and would run it at the start of my watch and 15 minutes before ending it, then 5 to clean up its mess because I can't code for shit but it at least did something, another 5 doing actual manual process stuff (literal printing/stapling/by-hand highlighting/putting in sticky tabs/etc) and the last 5 cooking up something to look busier than I was and yet in complete control of the situation

I think it's actually pretty natural. Think about human psychology. We aren't built for the virtual. We're meant to feel motivate by real things, real work, demanded of us by a collective we belong to and that needs us. Family groups basically. What happens when a company can't foster that culture? If you feel faceless, disposable, unappreciated, and the work you do trivial, virtual, intangible, why would you ever feel motivated to do it? It would actually be weirder if you can. Those that can muster the interest and drive are the exception.

Anonymous No.106830480 [Report]

It's not all that different. I would actually argue low-dose addy xr is the superior stimulant. It just gives you higher baseline focus and drive, without all of the anxiety and jitter caffeine gives. And I'd say at minimum 80% of corporate America is on caffeine.

We are "capable" of more than 4, obviously, but it isn't what we're naturally optimized for, if that makes any sense. Or else we wouldn't touch stimulants at all.

Little kids basically exhibit human nature in its purest form. They wake up, go crazy for 2 hours in the morning, tank and nap during the mid-day, and then go crazy for another 2 in the evening before bed. We're basically crepuscular, like cats. We evolved in hot climes that made mid day productivity useless and even dangerous.

Generally speaking, the more low level and strict you get with a programming language, the better the AI handles the context and can generate code for it. SQL has no ambiguity or flexibility at all and a strict syntax with simple building blocks. If you give the AI accurate parameters it will usually handle it.

Front end stuff is a nightmare with AI. There are so many languages/frameworks involved with so much change over the years and so many ways to skin a cat that it just bugs out and generates shit.

another thing to consider is that most devs are rather mediocre at SQL and LLMs know tricks they can not even dream of.

There was this very convoluted multi hundred loc SQL right in the heart of the business domain. The one that actually generates $$$ for the business. The one that was carefully optimized by several people throughout the years and takes multiple staff engineers approval to submit a PR for. Well, it turns out you can just throw it at some LLM and it produces a more refined query and has like 2x the performance. >cue endless meeting after endless meeting of them explaining to us why we were wrong to not score them highly
>decide I will score green every time, I'm not going through this hell again
>anyway me and a couple of girls from the team (yeah we have 2) were discussing how ridiculous this whole thing was, and how dumb the director and manager are
>this little faggot from my team is overhearing
>imagine the most slimy, weak, effeminate, submissive, disgusting piece of shit you can
>never like him despite him always making every attempt possible to be liked by all
>anyway cue a few days later my director who always liked me and greeted me and gave me friendly pats on the back and good job etc. suddenly won't even talk to me
>I talk to him and he ignores me
>I say good morning he does not reply
>I put 2+2 together the other day
>That slimy little faggot went straight up to the director and told him we were trashing him

In fairness to my colleagues, the two SQL dbs we use are utter shite, the main one is aggregated sales data from the source but there almost no QC, it's rife with wrong codes, mismatched labels, etc - not to mention the design of the whole fucking pipeline was done by offshore devs in the early 2000s and management hasn't bothered to even consider shipping v2.0 so you have all the issues that come with legacy SQL written by literal slave laborers in BENGALURU or whatever

Fuck now you've got me started - heres all the shit wrong with this "data warehouse"
>Every table/column name is ALL CAPS and abbreviated to all hell so readability/interpretability is basically zero
>No proper dim tables, there are some dim-like tables but they often shove multiple different types of coding in one table
>The fact tables are essentially in "one big table" style, so they're big and clunky
>They fucked up and didnt make proper primary keys for ANY table so everything has to be LEFT JOIN'd
>The main fact table is individual sub transactions that are supposed to correspond to a single overall transaction but the way the sales software works is it doesn't auto-populate all of the 89 different fields that make up a transaction, so you'll have 5 sub transactions on the same big transaction with missing or differently valued codes on 4 even though they shouldn't all be shoved in the same big table and should be keyed onto somewhere else in the process
>The above point makes it difficult to determine what the actual coding on an aggregate transaction is supposed to be
>Also the usual shit like the customer name being spelled 17 different ways over the course of a single transaction
>If I write any query basically every column I bring in is not in the GROUP BY, I have to hit it with MAX
>There are also so many dummy transactions with $0.00 that have absolute garbage codes that every query necessarily ends in HAVING SUM(amount) <> 0

Anyways, a good amount of these issues could be solved upstream if I had any say in how the pipes worked but if you think I could pass through the 17 layers of architecture/compliance hell to get write access to a production server, think again. One time I asked to get access to a dev server so I could try to build something rudimentary that my colleagues could use and had to go through rounds of "go ask Bill in blah blah department" until I finally got to some OG white man with a wizard beard whose only job in 2025 is to tell people how lauaghable it is to think they can get access to even the most insignificant of dev servers

these memes serve the same purpose. They obviously lack any real meaning. When normalfags say "literally" they don't literally mean "literally". It's just for emphasis and the new meaning is divorced from the original meaning. And if they say "sex with x" they don't mean it. It's just filler that pads out a conversation and lets them grind daily rewards from socialization with the least amount of effort possible.

I'm still not sure I agree with the filler comparison, but it's an interesting take nonetheless. Best I can tell, after having pondered over it for several hours, the meme is meant to invoke the image of someone who is so sex-obsessed that the only coherent sentence he can form, is simply naming the thing he is obsessed over.

>When normalfags say "literally" they don't literally mean "literally". It's just for emphasis and the new meaning is divorced from the original meaning
Yeah, I noticed this even back in 2007. I tried adding an urbandictionary entry to explain this exact phenomenon, but it got rejected, since I was probably too young to write a good one at the time. The more recent example of something similar, is people's obsession with the word "unironically". As you say, it's there to add emphasis, a synonym to "honestly/seriously/no joke". What pisses me off is when "unironically" (to add emphasis) gets used as a drop-in replacement for "ironically" (to highlight the irony). Congrats, you just replaced a word with its literal opposite. Like a kid who just learned the word "apparently", overusing it to seem more adult. Faggot.

Yeah, I agree with you that it's a bit more complex of a topic than what I'd described in my previous posts. I'd better summarize it as normalfags having a more emotional, feminine way of thinking that makes the memes and terms they popularize less logical but more fun and relatable which is very subjective. Sex memes like sex with x, rawdogging, barebacking, cuck, simp are very relatable to pussyless young men. I'm thinking about pussy too.

>overusing it to seem more adult
Trust me pretty much nobody who uses words like this is trying to do this. It's often done on purpose knowing it's just memespeak. Either it gets accepted that way and the meme becomes the mundane or it dies out like any other fad. The important thing to remember is that if you speak English as your first language it's your bitch. Us native speakers can start changing the meaning of words and it makes sense to others because we are able to infer from the context. Meanwhile a foreigner will be fucking baffled.

it's partially funny be repetition, much like any meme, but also like i said its a parody of the truncated language 4chan tends to use and how irreverent people tend to be in that they ignore the content of your post to fixate on one thing they find interesting for a reason itself not even relevant to your post (usually attached risque content, which also created the "lust provoking image // irrelevant time-wasting question" format)

it's sorta like an evolution of Yeahposting where one would respond to a long high effort post or complex question with simply "Yeah", itself an evolution of the absolutely ancient joke response of simply answering "Yes" to a multiple choice question

>The advent of Artificial Intelligence marks a decisive paradigm shift in transnational professional correspondence, acting as a digital panacea for the trepidation non-native speakers often experience due to linguistic impediments. These sophisticated algorithms eradicate deep-seated syntactic incongruities, undertaking the wholesale reconfiguration of convoluted phrasing into structures that possess both mellifluous fluency and unequivocal clarity. Furthermore, AI provides continuous lexical augmentation and precise tonal calibration, interceding to proffer domain-specific vernacular and ensuring the message maintains an appropriately balanced, professionally congruent register. The integrated feature of cross-cultural acuity shields the communicator from inadvertent offense, safeguarding critical business relationships from subtle fissures caused by semantic or cultural misunderstandings. Ultimately, this technological efficaciousness dramatically accelerates the non-native user’s compositional velocity, instilling the vital professional attribute of communicative hegemony and fostering profound epistolary self-assurance.

>manager reviews my jira tickets
>"Why do you have progression AND regression testing scenarios here? That's confusing, just focus on what's changing"
>I change one ticket to only have progression testing
>"I feel you need to include test scenarios for things that shouldn't change"
>I change another ticket to explicitly have scenarios labelled as "progression" and "regression"
>"I see you have the terms 'progression' and 'regression' here, that's kind of confusing, just say whether it should change or not"

I am quitting this job, I don't want to engage with this ridiculous scenario by arguing this is insane

The point of excel isn't to "make spreadsheets" or to ever enjoy the feeling of accomplishment. These days industry pretty much runs itself, "jobs" are quangos exchanged for favors, filled to check boxes, or staffed with people the hiring manager "vibes with". In this context, excel is properly understood as a disciplinary device and/or an ascetic ritual, the meaning of which would be lost if the "worker" were to "enjoy himself". Such a pervert has no place in this system and would ruin it for everyone else.

well it's like the opposite of a regression test
I suppose a more standard term would be a functional test

every test is a regression test though. make sure functionality didn't regress. if you are adding a new functional test it's immediately now a regression test to make sure that feature continues working

what is it about "data warehouses" that seems to attract the absolute bottom of the barrel design and management practices?
like the one i have to interact with:
>tables are named after jira epics
>each jira epic can have dozens of tables, each repeating some bit of data on the main table for that epic
>most table and column names are 50+ characters
>denormalized in the stupidest way imaginable, rife with data duplication like putting legal names and cost centers in the education table
>zero attempt at using the relational part of a relational database
>at least once a week, one or more of the tables we use will either be empty or have each row duplicated hundreds of times
>there are dev, qa, and prod environments, but they arent the same because they manually deploy changes and mess around with shit, causing some tables to be inaccessible to us in certain environments whenever they decide to add ssns to the schema for shits and giggles
oh and its aws athena too so there isnt a decent intellij plugin i can use to explore it within my ide

my manager asks me such baffling questions that I almost question whether or not she's trying to be malicious
I've worked in insurance for 5 years, so I've looked at a policy or two and created end-to-end test plans
She asks me "Are you sure you know what a quote is, or what happens to it after it's bound? Maybe take a look at the policy lifecycle page"

I've been there.
I have a PM who is absolutely retarded in regards to tech things. Literally never wrote a line of code in his life, nor does he intend to.
Anyways, sometimes I fix something and he asks "can I see the code?". I show him the code and ask "Does that clarify anything?" to which he replies "no.".
I don't get it, I can't even see the malicious angle he might be taking. It's not a joke either.

Found a job position that basically said

AI has only worsend my life so far
There has been a few artworks that I would say are genuinely nice, but all that drowns in the sea of slop that has been generated and it's only getting worse.
not to mention all the damage its doing via disrupting the economy, displacing workers, making misinformation easier to spread etc.
and every time I tried to use it for some coding issues it wasted more time than it saved by making up some bullshit.

it's literal demon technology.
