I've never lived there and don't know what to fucking believe anymore. So my question is, is it a fucking shithole or is it a paradise? Certain parts of California are shitty, its mostly for rich Caucasians, elderly retired rich middle class families, nepotism babies/families. The struggling middle poor class has to struggle daily. When I was young, San Diego's motto was "America's cleanest city".
Now there human feces on the streets, used needles, trash and graffiti EVERYWHERE. As a kid i never saw a homeless person. Now there are places where you have to walk in the street because the sidewalks are nothing but tents and homeless encampments.
This goes 1:1 with White flight and the increase of the Hispanic and muslim populations.
White people are only 30% of California's population. There are times I've gone to a store and looked around and it was just a sea of 5' brown goblins.

The weather is amazing.

LA irvine pasadena (RIP) santa monica etc are over crowded but irvine is a real gem of the coast with all of the smartest people in america. I think LA and its surrounding satellites have a culture that is pretty distinct from the rest of california and it could become a state by itself.
I lived in orange county for a few months and I think those people are the least californian people in the state. They don't care about time, they talk to strangers like family, they are super conservative and forgiving and all these other traits that just seem to fit more with a southern state archetype than a californian coast archetype. They even have their own accent in OC that sounds more mexican than californian. A lot of contractors and people that work with their hands.

Lived there for a year for work related reasons in the bay area in a suburb with approx. 30k people circa 2018.
Immigration isn't much of an issue since it either falls into 2 categories : piss-poor gringos coming from Mexico and acting like indentured servants, and indians and other immigrants coming for college degrees.
The weather is nice, but you have every year some kind of mild natural disasters, wether small floods or wildfires. Albeit not bad, it really drives en emphasis that this place will probably not exist as it currently stands in 30-50 years.

As for the cities, they are like any other in other states afaik, drugs and homelessness but it doesn't bother much since everyone lives in suburbs and commutes.
There's a very neoliberal feel to the place. Leftism has become synonimous with morals, there's a complete hypocrisy towards the climate/homeless/immigrants and the state is almost exclusively composed of tech/intellectual professions coming from across the world.

I’m from the Central Valley. It’s hot and dry. Minimal rain. Crime isn’t really bad. As long as you stay away from areas with graffiti. I live in one of the most expensive places in California, south Bay Area. I live at home with my parents and they are loaded but I still can’t get a job after college cause I fell for the learn to code psyop. High paying jobs here are getting outsourced to jeets and if you do get a job it’s fucking terrible working hours and they pay way less for people without experience. At least I still live in one of the few cities in the Bay Area that is over 60% white and it’s great but I wish I could get a job but I’m here competing with the entire population of China and India. - There is no more California culture it died after 2008.
- Geography good.
- Pacific Northwest good. Extremely beautiful and majestic.
- Cities ULTRA bad.
- No jobs.
- Everybody is an asshole.
- If you meet someone "nice" they're just trying to use you to accomplish/get something.
- Money is everything to people who live there. You don't have money? Then kill yourself. That is the California motto.
- Everything you want to do on a weekend will take at least 1/4th of your paycheck
- Impossible to afford rent
- Even if you can find housing, the state offer nothjng different then what your leaving.
- It will take the police an average of 1 hour to respond to your 911 call.
- And this is the biggest truth I can drop. Ever single woman there is ugly. I am not joking. It's rare you'll find a woman that isn't an ugly piece of shit.

I did my best. I lived in SoCal my whole life. One day I was working at the Rose Bowl and a football team from Nebraska was in town for a game and I had to work the grounds of the Nebraskins camping there.
Every single woman was beautiful, every person was extremely nice and said hello and smiled, and everybody had good Grammer.
Dropped the illusion of California real quick and I packed my shit up and left to South Dakota a year later.

Literally 90% of people I spoke to my age were desperate to leave because it was so unaffordable. People are nice overall. My grandmother's 50 year old 3/1 house is nearly 800K on Zillow, in Fullerton. She also until recently had a massive homeless encampment 1/4 mile from her house where they shit all over the street.

I also lived in Redding (NorCal) for a while, which was much better, but not great. More affordable, tons of Gadsden flags everywhere, muh Jefferson, less people, way less homeless. Still expensive. Ive lived in fresno california all my life. Its pretty shitty here. Its unbearably hot in summer and everything looks run down.

Its very common to run into people that dont speak much english, to the point where you will have trouble communicating. Just today I ordered a beef burrito at a restaurant and ended up with a vegetarian burrito. Getting really sick of all the ESL beaners that cant be bothered to learn the language of their own country.

Crime is not as bad as people say. I once had a guy try to steal my bike. I confronted him and he ran off. Another time I had a methhead try to punch open my car window. If I had a gun on me I would have killed him but California makes concealed carry difficult. Neither incident resulted in any loss to me.

There are virtually no high paying jobs here. If you want to be successful you have to move to one of the larger cities. The only high paying jobs in the state are working for monopolies like PG&E, big tech, and govt jobs. Maybe starting your own business but thats a crapshoot. Every other person in the entire state is poor. There are parts of fresno that are completely 3rd world. Ive seen walking tours of mexico that look better than here.

Homelessness is a real problem though. I see a bum on almost every streetcorner, even way out away from people like in empty fields. I walked down to walmart a few months ago and passed 3 different people who were visibly stumbling. Drug use is rampant. Most wagies show up to work high on weed. They seem to be permastoned. I dont blame them.

Wyoming is great if your into cowboy shit and being a hick with a rolling coal 4x4 truck. But like Montana its depressingly cold and windy most of the year and its beautiful during summer. I mean if you like that live there otherwise, live in a large city.

I remember going there as a real young kid, circa 1988, to visit my three aunts that lived in different areas. We went there for like a month. I thought it was the coolest thing I'd ever seen and wanted to move there. Fast forward to my early twenties, one my aunt's passed so we went to the funeral.
