I once had a telescope where I could see Saturn's rings and the red spot on Jupiter.
That was the only enjoyment I ever got out of the telescope. Kinda cool to see it with my own eyes but really kinda pointless when you can look pictures taken from much better telescopes. In fact I'd go so far as to say that really only the best few telescopes should exist and all others should be destroyed for being inferior and pointless.
