I might have taken the notion of Kaito/Uta seriously if there was an obvious follow up episode like with pic related but the subsequent episodes seem to have nothing to do with the guy. Kaito's obviously intentioned to be a big brother figure at best (though he'll probably feel less like a brother and more like a helpful older coworker due to their overall lack of interaction so far).
