i think you're right about that, people don't really think clearly about how they'll react until they're actually in a given situation, so they compensate with fantastical ideas based on fiction. synchronicity is fucking scary at first, paranoia is not all that unreasonable to experience, but that's why i often refer to it as the "paranoia phase", because you can get used to it if you focus on remaining calm and interacting with the synchronicity in a more conversational way

that's also why i try to give that kind of advice to people dealing with the gangstalking aspects of synchronicity, some are too paranoid to contend with the idea of trying not to view themselves as a victim, but i try nonetheless
