However in this particular case when 343 do rewrite Halo 1 as forerunners = aliens they have to grapple with, and show to a significantly larger audience, how their change makes the Covenant's genocide of humanity completed justified in the eyes of their religion and loses the dramatic irony of the religion literally killing their Gods.
