Chara possessing Frisk symbolizes how you can never go back to seeing this world the same. After destroying it and admitting to yourself it is nothing more than a game to be completed, stats to be raised, numbers and code, you can never truly reimmerse yourself like in your first playthrough, forever will they just BE enemies.

I think the majority of Kris genuinely hates the weird route, but there is a sick part of them, one they purposefully suppressed and went to therapy for that enjoys it, enjoys seeing it happen because they know it wasn't them.
