Deltarune only exists because Toby wanted to turn his crackpot fever dream ending of a game that didn't exist into reality.
That's the sole purpose for this world's existence. Its ending. It's baked into its prophecy, so even on an in-universe level, those in the know are aware Deltarune only exists for the sake of its ending. Whether the one set in stone, or the alternate ends Toby so graciously allows you to pursue as to give meaning to all of your choices.
But at the end of the day, it's still a product defined by its ending, rather than any other details.
