It's something that people mention time and time again and it sounds pedantic and annoying but it kinda is true, and the fact is that a lot of lonely people have a lot of really lonely style behaviours that will make them chimp out when they can't self-insert, there's a huge market for nukige VNs for this exact same reason; short, cheap and masturbatory for (you) content. In the end I think being able to give things a chance and enjoy them is good, but being too committed and thinking too hard about things will inevitably harm your psyche and make you jump through hoops to justify that someone is "SOLELY for (you)" or something. I think having fun is the endgame.
