I mean, he spent like 20 years learning how to draw poses using Loomis heads, gesture, realistic shading, and so on... but why can't he draw from imagination? Does he need another 20 years studying kangaroo anatomy just to draw one from imagination? How do Japanese artists manage to create such original pieces or draw and animate from imagination? Is their workflow different?

Well, at least anime artists can draw from imagination xdd. Not like those who spend 20 years learning how to photocopy photos, but can’t do shit when asked to draw from imagination.

Actually, goat advice, anon. Holy shit. I really needed someone to say that. I don’t wanna draw boring academic photorealistic shit, just cute anime girls with good proportions.

Good advice, Anon, ty! But I have a quick question: I want to draw cute anime girls, not just copy them. I want to change their poses, make them blink, walk, be expressive, bring them to life. Draw from imagination, use construction, etc. That’s why I’m so curious about how this process works for artists. I don't want to be just being a human photocopier like picrel meme
