The overarching points in this are solid enough but the extrapolations they make such as “games might go to a subscription model” are just made up bullshit with zero empirical evidence.

There’s a difference between informed purchasing and fear mongering. All it does is make people take the real shit less seriously. The performative activism surrounding the Switch 2 is hilarious to me, because so many of the people getting uppity about it didn’t seem to care when Sony, Microsoft, and Valve pulled all the same shit over a decade ago. Hope they have similar warnings for those guys.

The lack of release dates for 60% of the things they showcased in April is pretty concerning, and I’m worried that this is gonna be a repeat of the dogshit Mario Kart World direct where they just give us all the same info as the treehouse.

I would much rather just get a big story trailer for this game in a regular direct. The only game-focused directs they’ve done that are worth a damn are the Smash and Xenoblade ones, since those games usually have enough complexities and changes that couldn’t be communicated in a normal showcase.
