Nah, you're wrong. Toriyama looks deceptively simple because he makes his fights so easy to follow, but his choreography is actually VERY hard to pull off because his fights follow the basic elements of a dance which is:
>beat-by-beat steps
>rhythmic pacing
>spatial control
>cooperation
>sequence
>timing of a prearranged set of moves
That's why you can remember every step of Goku vs Vegeta, Goku vs Piccolo and Goku vs Cell, but not what happened in Demon Slayer's fights because Toriyama wasn't drawing highlight reels, he was actually drawing fights. If it feels simple, then that's because you're not used to clarity. You don't need gimmicks when the choreography actually works.

There is literally no way to defend Toyotaro here, this is so fucking bad.

Meanwhile, Toriyama's paneling was genius. Storytime had everyone suck Toriyama's dick for it.

Toriyama's fights are way more complex than whatever Kishimoto shits out choreography wise because he doesn't resort to skipping the buildup and delivery of hits like Kishimoto always does. On the few occasions Kishimoto doesn't do that shit he can do great action scenes that compare but then they only last 2 or 3 pages so... too bad

In the first place I don't really think it's a good idea to have a "Dragon Ball writer" and a "Dragon Ball artist". It goes against the very process that made Dragon Ball what it is.

Kishimoto just isn't that good at making fight choreography sadly. He has a good eye for shot composition and nice perspectives but not fightan
