Nah, it's brilliant.
I thought it was shit the first time I played it and quit after a few hours, came back a few years ago to give it a fair shake.

For the longest time in the playthrough I was unsure if I loved it or hated it, had very mixed feelings until eventually I "got" it and truly appreciated the effort that was put into it.

No, it really doesn't. I think I used melee to kill 3 humans - I used one molotov whipping it at a soldier and looted the corpses of the people he killed previously which set me up with enough ammunition to survive the early game.

Fellow unc gamer and I think you're missing where to aim to start your spray. Once figured out roughly where I should start my spray and got used to where my bullets were going to land it got a lot better. M433 is pretty goated but you have to run tons of higher tier attachments. The 288E is better by default but kinda sucks until you can get one of the better scopes on it. Spend some time in the firing range, swapping attachments around until you find something that works with how you control recoil. Stats are kinda misleading because how you change handling and recoil can sometimes not gel with how your gamer instincts have developed. "Better" barrels or foregrips might cause the gun to pull sideways or something and not be as predictable.

Or just pick Support, slap on LMG, and dakka.

Yes. They need new galactic war mechanics, and they need them to be STUPIDLY obvious to the player. Their in-game readability is SO bad right now it's honestly impressive how un-intuitive it is.

This is also correct. They spam so many fucking Major Orders it feels like it's completely lost all meaning. There's no reason to care about any of it, not like the rewards matter.

I don't have great solutions here but it's obvious there's a problem when your playerbase actively refuses to bother to do anything else other than "attack major order planet" or "attack the planet closest to super earth" EVERY TIME.
