You decide if you want to play as a male trainer or female trainer, and the uma heroines become affectionate with said MC. safely ignore the self-insert fags screeching
Worth to mention that the trainers have different personalities and traits depending of the uma girl. Ramonu's trainer has a massive love for races, Furioso's trainer wants to support the same hometown as well (they're basically a couple already since they lodge the same place), etc.

Early Uma Musume was pretty different in terms of atmosphere and character designs. Orfevere was originally a delinquent with a mask, a full 180° compared to the glamorous and royal uma we have now. Pretty sure that was a primary problem of what pissed off the owners, the game had a concept (the horse girls) but didn't make a lot of effort into the designs and characterization.

I think Tamamo is beyond fixing. You'd need to go back in time and give him a better childhood.

>Think Special Week was mean to mares?
>Tamamo Cross kicked and killed a mating partner in one mating attempt.
>Wasn't fond of human women either.
>Tamamo has been found to have grabbed women's clothes and dragged them away, or torn them up and torn them into pieces.
>"Tamamo Cross had a vain personality that did not trust people or words."
>He really tried to kill adults, including his main rider during his active years, Katsumi Minai.
>For unknown reasons, it is said that the person Tamamo Cross wanted to kill the most was a tourist wearing a parka.
>The pastures of Tamamo and Taiki were right next to each other, so the road between the two pastures was nicknamed the "Road of Death."
>In one anecdote, there was a man who boasted, "I've stroked the head of Tamamo Cross before," and the person in charge laughed and said, " Seeing as your fingers were all intact, that couldn't have been Tamamo Cross."

>He and Taiki had grounds next to each other.
>The space between those grounds was nicknamed 'The Road of Death.' by staff.
>Mejiro Bright was the only one who really didn't give a shit about walking said road though.
>When Tamamo would attempt to intimidate him, Bright would hit him with the unfazed stare.
>Just another reason these two became the biggest combatants of the stable.
>Katsumi Minai, his prior mentioned jockey, however actually attributes a lot of his strength in present years to the trials of handling such a tenacious and hateful horse.
>"He is the horse who made me a man." - Katsumi Minai

Some alternative factoids about Tamamo Cross not mentioned in my other factoid posts so far

>He had a habit of biting since he was in active service, and even when he was a sire, he did not get over it, so a warning sign was posted in red letters in front of the sign saying "Do not go near him."
>In one anecdote, there was a man who boasted, "I've stroked the head of Tamamo Cross before," and the person in charge laughed and said, " Seeing as your fingers were all intact, that couldn't have been Tamamo Cross ."
>Tamamo has been found to have grabbed women's clothes and dragged them away, or torn them up and torn them into pieces. He didn't just hate females horses, it'd seem.
>"Tamamo Cross had a vain personality that did not trust people or words." Although he was kind to children, he really tried to kill adults, including his main rider during his active years, Katsumi Minai. For unknown reasons, it is said that the person Tamamo Cross wanted to kill the most was a tourist wearing a parka.
>The pastures of Tamamo and Taiki (who as I mentioned in another post were combative) were right next to each other, so the road between the two pastures was nicknamed the "Road of Death."
>In another anecdote, when Mejiro Bright passed by on the right side of his paddock, he attempted to threaten him. Bright was remarkably unfazed.
