american high school and college are both basically extended daycare. my final for french class in high school was watching ratatouille in french, with english subtitles. the books that are required reading in high school really should be read in middle school, and nobody really reads them anyways they just use internet for notes and summaries, and teachers are too stupid to tell or care. of all the classes in american education english and language classes in general are especially undervalued and infantalized. I am almost 30 and I think I am the only one of my friends that has actually read a book in the 10 years since any of us attended a college class
