Cops aren't your friends. They aren't there to protect you or make you safer and they have no duty to do so.

Lets not pretend like this is just a bunch of dumbasses. Many, MANY people get off on abusing whatever power they can wield over others. And those people are particularly drawn to a profession where you can do that with no consequences.
That's why they constantly cover for these dumbasses. That's why they never face actual consequences.

They already do. The problem is that they kill innocent people and non-violent criminals, and then get away scot free. In fact, they are WAY more willing to kill an unarmed innocent vs someone that is armed and dangerous. Just look at Uvalde.
Not to mention the shitloads of civil rights abuse that stops short of murder.
