>get hit by shell, ice flower, and flattened by a mega mushroom
>start to make my way back up the ranks, decide to take a shortcut with an item
>lightning, lose my skip mushroom, get picked up by lakitu, fall into dead last
>knocked out of the first gate

If I'm understanding this correctly: you paid hundreds of dollars for a Switch 2/$80 for a new Mario Kart with the expectation of a new way of playing and interacting with a new world...and you just wanted to play like Mario Kart 8, a game that has been out for a decade? Why? Just play Mario Kart 8?
