The thing is, "anti AI idiots" have been proven right over and over and over again for the past 50 years.
When you've been right for half a century straight, and people who say "zomg expert systems/ocr/chess grandmaster programs/cp generators/hallucinating text predictors, agi in two weeks if we flush a few trillion dollars down it!" have been wrong every step of the way, resulting in decades-long AI winters, who the real idiots are becomes obvious.
