Never played HK and don't have a hate boner for it or anything but I always did think it looked like the most generic metroidvania. Like let me guess, you unlock a dash, a double jump, and maybe a hookshot or climbing ability. The boss attacks are either big columns of light you need to dash out of or double jump over, or some waves of bullet hell-ish projectiles. The story is probably dark souls-lite that you have to le piece together as you go. Never saw the appeal.
