There are coomers who come into this thread saying that SR has no positive effect or makes them feel terrible. Maybe in their case it's true, but we need to understand the rule, not the exception.
We understand the rule through understanding the underlying biology. Dopamine spikes at orgasm then flatlines, prolactin floods the system and remains for weeks. This all suppresses testosterone. Prolactin is 4x higher after orgasm with a partner. This all makes sense from a biological perspective - the mating is done, time to move on. The male immediately finds the female less appealing. In females there is more of a time delay because it's in her interest to keep the mate around while pregnant/weaning, but after that she becomes more and more repulsed with every orgasm, because nature wants her to have multiple baby daddy since increased genetic variety = higher chance of survival. Same way nature wants men to impregnate multiple females.
