I don't see what its purpose is. It feels like an unfinished early concept, you can't even put it in safe mode like a railgun
Same with the laser turret, they had an idea and didn't even think to balance it or come up with a purpose for it. I generally don't like laser guns because they just feel boring and unfinished.
