There's part of me that just kind of feels bad for Texas Tech. There's nothing to fucking do out there in Lubbock and everyone knows it. My sister was offered a completely free ride to their medical school just because they're desperate for qualified applicants, in everything, which they can't get, because nobody wants to go to fucking Lubbock, because there's nothing to do. No wonder they have their very own STD. The whole setup is just kind of sad.

HOW could ANYONE be a materialist in the year 2025? 20 years ago there was maybe some grounds to accuse religious people of having no leg to stand on, but it seems to me we now have ample documentation that there is a transcendent quality to reality and that life is more than the physical in numerous ways. I think if you're a materialist at this point it reflects badly on you as a person. Like on some level you WANT there to be no transcendent reality, maybe because it would absolve you from ever facing consequences for your actions in some life to come. But such a wish to me seems increasingly to fly in the face of how we have actually found the world to work. There IS a reality above our reality and it sometimes intrudes into the world below.

The overwhelming message of Alan Moore is that if you have the inclination to do something superheroic you're probably a fascist and also maladjusted somehow. It's a very pessimistic outlook on humans. I don't know what he's got against displays of heroism.

I got a short story published recently, that was fun.

I entered a poem in a major poetry contest last month. First prize is $2000, and more than that, winning or at least placing well in the contest would probably be a major boost for my career as an artist. I hope I can do a decent job.

Every time we have one of these threads it only increases my desire to see our entire civilization destroyed. At this point I'm actively rooting for Trump to go full madman and start a nuclear war. Look at this shit, there's nothing worth saving about the modern world, we'd be better off if it all fell apart.
