Yeah, they don't really make deep anime like they use to

This was the last of a time honored tradition of deep anime before the shonen slop took over

They just don't make them like they used to. It started with Brotherhood being much worse than the original FMA

Most shonen sucks but I miss back when anime used to have actual deep themes in them, brotherhood and fairy tail were the beginning of the end when the medium became slop
They don't make them like they used to anymore
I feel like the 90s and early 2000s were the peak of anime, you got a lot of deep and meaningful shows with more seinen vibes that you just don't get in these days of shonen and isekai slop. We need more Lain and Monster, less Solo Leveling and Demon Slayer

The manga was mediocre back then too, the anime original adaptation made it look better than it was but then Brotherhood revealed that no, the source material really was bad. I think 2003 is closer to its contemporaries like Monster (see pic rel), more deep

All of these

>this slop was #1 on MAL for like 12 years, topping much better shows, because FMAutists were obsessed enough to bot the shit out of it and other sites like anilist
Literally brony tier
What is it about Brotherhood that causes this much
Does anyone else miss the 90s/early 2000s? Sure there was a lot of slop back then but there was also genuine kino with depth. Newfags will never understand since they mostly consume shonen trash now.

It's not just that it's "mature" like Monster, it also has that classic early 2000s animation while Brotherhood is more modern and soulless, FMA 03 and Monster are almost contemporaries after all, with the latter only coming out in 2004. Also compare it to Kino's Journey (2003) or Haibane Renmei a bit earlier (2002). God what a soulful era of anime
