Wanting to keep the South in the union literally only makes logical sense from a moral and symbolic standpoint because those rednecks are useless economically, in fact statistically speaking most of them are a net drain on the economy, even in the antebellum era the North was superior economically because slavery is not conducive to economic growth since the slaves cannot participate in the economy they contribute to, limiting cash flow, internal revenue, and general economic stimulus.

I suspect it likely is. Whites living in the deep south act identical to blacks living in the deep south. The South ended up being where all of Americas most dysgenic people migrated to regardless of race and is today seen as the source of nearly every single negative stereotype in America. Blacks from the North don't act the same as blacks from the South. It's not a racial thing, it's a cultural thing.
