But this is unirnonically what happened. The league was pulling their usual bullshit up through the Buffalo game but then it became so obvious that all the discussion online became about how rigged the league was. The league realized it and decided that the threepeat they'd been greasing the skids for all year wasn't what most fans actually wanted and they risked pissing off a huge portion of the fanbase if they carried out their plans.

I mean, Taylor Swift was getting fucking booed. The whole thing backfired horrendously and at least they realized it while there was still time to pull the plug. The NBA would have just kept fucking going.
