Bullshit! XIV is often praised simply because it was improved at the right time (the transition from 1.0 to ARR) and was one of the few mmorpgs with a strong focus on story. it is also important not to forget how critics were systematically silenced by the community in a manner reminiscent of gestapo tactics all the way through to Endwalker.

Imho xiv is a prime example of how a community can slide into authoritarian thinking, ignore reality and put a game and its devs on a near godlike pedestal.

One last note: ARR (and maybe even somewhat 1.23) was peak XIV. every three months updates full with content and new stuff. Heck, we even got three dungeons.
And what have we since the first xpac? Less and less content. Horrible overworld maps. And more and more focus and amateurish paced and written MSQ full with endless exposition.
