It depends on if Zelensky is what's holding back the peace treaty or if its hard liners in the military who would kill him if he made peace and gave the Russians what they want for it.
If its just Zelensky then he's a useful idiot and completely expendable. He was baited into walking his country into a war they couldn't win to undermine Russia and now he'll be removed, scapegoated for being the only obstacle to peace and that it was he and not NATO that wanted the war and refused the Russian peace treaty at the start of the war that would have let them keep all their territory. He'll be the fall guy, Ukraine will lose Donetsk, and Luhansk as well as accepting that they'll never get Crimea back and Russia will have either a puppet state or a new province that extends out along the Black Sea to Crimea and Sevastapol.
If the west are smart they'll attempt to make this area demilitarized with the exception of the naval base at Sevastapol in exchange for demilitarizing north east Ukraine east of the Dniepper river. That would create a buffer zone and preserve peace.
If on the other hand the military hard liners are really in control then they'll either have to be convinced to accept peace as they throw Zelensky under the bus for their incompetence or if they're dead set on continuing the war at all costs then they'll have to be removed in one way or another before Ukraine completely commits suicide. NATO could potentially color revolution them along side Zelensky or start assassinating them and then promote someone who'll do what NATO wants and wind down the war. Or they might just use the threat of that option to get them to play ball.
In any case Ukraine has lost and someone is going to have to take the blame for leading them off a cliff. Zelensky seems like the easy candidate for a sacrificial lamb, he's served his purpose and NATO doesn't need him any more.
