this needs an explanation:
on people who were isolated for a long time, for social interaction, the amygdala (brain region responsible for threat detector) stays on high alert and interprets every new interaction as potentially dangerous instead of the opposite as it was conditioned to do so with constant isolation. so, people might not realize, but what is actually preventing people from freely just interacting with eachother isn't lack of social skills or not knowing how to plan an interaction, but rather because of apprehension made from the right amydalae.
so it's technically outside of sapient/conscious/rational control, as the amygdala is one of the most archaic brain region responsible for instincts.
you may think you're doing this choice of not talking to people as if you have free will and that your actions are not dictated by the unconscious restraining you (in this case instincts). you don't want to be dictated by maladjusted instincts or hardware(amygdala), do you? having self awareness isn't enough but a start
