>Why is this the case?
I know the reason, but you guys aren't gonna like hearing it. Let's look at two examples, the Wu Chang censorship patch that rolled out recently because Chinese players were pissed that you were able to aid barbarians in killing Ming dynasty IRL heroes and figures, vs the kingdom come 2 drama over the lead dev promising to not bow down to DEI bullshit during the first game, only to add a bunch of homo shit and Africans to his second game.
When white people see something they don't like in games, first of all keep in mind that it's not universally disliked. For every white chud crying on 4chan that the devs betrayed them, there was an equal or greater amount of white dad gamers/casuals/purple haired trannies talking about how they love or at best don't care about the changes that turned medieval Europe into an African gay bar. Whether that's to spite the heckin nazis or whether they actually liked the game is irrelevant. The minor bit of crying you guys did paled in comparison to the game journalists, Twitter users, and game reviewers who either didn't care or liked the game despite the changes.
When Chinese people see something they don't like in games, they lose their shit. The hatred and anger of a billion keyboards clacking away crafting review bombs, negative bilibili videos, and sending hate mail to the devs is so deafening that they are forced to change it. When we truly dislike something, you'll know it, the devs will know it, and most importantly the shareholders will know it.
That's why shit like webm related would be baffling for Chinese people. This type of shit would never happen in China; the backlash would be so loud and visceral that the museum claiming that blacks are the original Chinese would be forced to close down and apologize on national TV. This kind of unity is impossible in the west. Call it what you want: bugmen behavior, hive mind behavior; idgaf. But this is the fundamental difference between us.
