Superman killing Zod is nothing new, I don't think Superman even has an explicit no-kill rule against aliens the way Batman does, Superman will blow up fleets of alien space ships alongside green lantern in justice league shit and regularly mows down parademons and shit, Apokalips has blown up with everyone on it several times. Pretty sure he's killed doomsday too.

I mean, they’re clearly aliens and/or monsters who gives a shit. Besides, he’s not Batman, he’s never had a zero tolerance rule against killing. Yeah, he’ll avoid killing as much as he can, but if he thinks it’s the ONLY option then he’ll do it.. He killed Quex-Ul, Zalora, and Zod back in the day and of course he beat Doomsday to death and also hasn’t he killed Darkseid couple of time? I know he’s done it in like Elsewords but I’m pretty sure at least one main universe Superman threw Darkseid in to a sun or something.
