I found it too grindy. I also felt like having a unique role for each character was ultimately pointless since each character has an obvious best royal archetype that they can become which takes away the whole point of the archetype thing. Sure you can just make them anything you want anyways, but why bother when their royal archetype is obviously the best and most efficient choice? It's like choosing to be purposely retarded, of course you're gonna go with the stronger option.
I think the bond system just needs to be removed entirely. I feel like it doesn't do the game any favors and there's very little satisfying character development. It just feels like everybody's problems are resolved on a whim which is the same deal as with Persona.
I appreciate that the villain remained an asshole until the very end, and I also liked the story, surprisingly. I could tell what the twist was ahead of time and still found it enjoyable. I also enjoyed the aspect of telling your dad to go fuck himself and his fake reality, which is a really cool way to show from both a player perspective and an in-universe perspective the love of fiction and that none of it was pointless. It's fucking cheesy and I loved it. I thought the realistic approach to getting your perfect happy civilization was good too. The game tells you multiple times that there's no such thing as this perfect world where everyone gets along, and if you want something close to it, there needs to be actual effort involved, and even then it won't be anywhere close to perfect. For a game that mostly comes across as safe, I did enjoy that the game was avoiding sugarcoating the topic.
The music was all boring. Strohl and Basilio are the best characters and it's not even close.
