>Raccoon City trilogy
These are quintessential Resident Evil. The idea that you're trapped in an evil funhouse with limited resources and you progress by completing puzzles designed by insane people. I would say that the Raccoon City era ended with Code Veronica.

>Resident Evil 4
In context I understand why people called this a revival of the series. Suddenly everyone was using OTS aiming that RE itself stole from Killswitch in 2003. Action is now the center focus with monsters instead of gunmen. Something that RE5 would immediately fuck up by giving the Majini guns. This is when the horror of Resident Evil died. It's just that the new gen players that entered video game discourse with the PS360 generation didn't care about slow burn games and the ones that did were too small and unimportant for Capcom to care about

>FPS Evil
I know people have problems with Ethan's games. But I respect that Capcom is trying desperately to return to RE being a series about being trapped in an evil funhouse. The change in perspective, as I can see, is to remove the all seeing camera. That said, you can see Capcom trying to find a way to keep the Adderall addicted new players while also throwing fans of the Raccoon era a bone.

It's a whole big gobbledygook of retcons. In the OG timeline, Leon went with Krauser to South America to take down a drug lord who, surprise, was using BOWs from Umbrella before they tanked. Krauser was already jealous of Leon when then showed up and after the mission was over and Krauser critically injured his arm, that jealousy festered into betrayal. He reached out to The Organization, now being run by Wesker, to seek out a way to gain power which was why he was planted into Los Illuminados.

In the Remake timeline, Leon never went to South America. Krauser was there with his own team, to take part in Operation Javier. The mission was an especially cruel affair that would've embarrassed the US if word got out, so the participants were killed off when they tried to get a ride home. Except they missed Krauser, who became enraged with the US after the fact. Unlike OG, Remake Krauser went directly to Saddler and Los Illuminados looking for power to spite the US.
