I would say that it wasn't any one particular decision, but more like a death by a thousand cuts, but the thing that officially killed WoW for me is when they briefly fixed the dungeons in Cata from the mindless bullshit they were in Wrath, only to immediately cave into the casuals who wanted to AoE spam. At that point, I realized WoW wasn't going to get any better and the audience for it was only going to get worse and demand WoW get shittier because they love shit, praise shit, and demand more shit. Unsurprisingly, Cata was also the expansion where they introduced trannymog.
It was also sort of the death knell for MMORPGs as a genre and the creation of an environment and community that would go on to claim, among other things, that bullshit like FFXIV was "saving MMOs" when it is a game based around fucking cutscenes.
