EMPLOYMENT is under 40% in the US, similar to other western countries. Now take into account how much of that is bullshit make work and how much is going away thanks to AI. Practically nobody has to work any more.
The only solution if you want to force the work to be spread out to everyone is greatly limiting employment hours while keeping hourly pay the same. 20 hour work week should have been the norm decades ago.
Immigration should be stopped entirely in all forms until employment is above 70%.
