That's just wasted potential. Way of the Water has the timeskip at the beginning without the human faction which is the perfect frame for making a story involving Sora vs. heatless conflict happen, and it's one of Fox' stupidly higher grossing movie series. Regardless of how shallow the movies actually are, not taking advantage of them due to how popular and money-making are for the masses is peak Square-Enix dumbness.
