You're not stupid, the early game is just bullshit for certain builds. I had almost the exact same thing happen to me.
>low physical stats
>fail 3% jump to where jacket is
>fail 3% chance to attack measurehead
>manage to level up to reset white check
>succeed in first attack
>decide to right hook instead of spin kick because it seemed more likely that the reasonable attack would succeed over the wacky attack given my physical ineptness (of course that was the wrong choice)
>manage to level up again, fuck it I'll become racist so I can move on with the damn game
>takes time to internalize thought
>at this point I have exhausted every single atom of dialogue
>end up standing around mashing left click as I loop through a book I've already read, advancing time by just a few minutes at a time
>takes actual irl tens of minutes before the thought internalizes and I can proceed
I don't care how much you rebbiters suck this game off, the early game is truly abysmal if you didn't pick right or didn't get lucky.
