That's how I felt with MGSV's tapes. There's so much lore hidden in them but nobody listened to them or paid attention. They just take what little is presented during the cutscenes for face value, and in the end the whole game's story feels like a betrayal because who the fuck cares how Big Boss survived Metal Gear?
