I'd imagine it's that /v/ being the most popular board it would retain the most oldfags whereas other boards eventually bled out so many of them over the years that they no longer affected the other boards to a noticeable degree. take this thread for instance, most other boards would either derail this or leave it at three or so posts. /a/ seems to be entirely newfags now, we just have to remember 2005 was twenty years ago, we're at the brink of extinction when compared to the larger sort that uses 4chan now.
