So am I since I think that's one of those moments. The way it's structured in the VN makes more sense on a plot level, but it loses some of its emotional momentum, especially if you end up having to go back and finish other parts of the game before you can unlock it. The anime version keeps the momentum going. Also as a minor point, in the anime, since Tomoya doesn't save Nagisa in a different timeline, but in the same one, he retains all his memories of everything that happened while she was dead, which I think cemented his character development during After Story a bit more. I've always thought the anime and VN were complementary to each other in ways like this.

That's just the way the game art is. She's supposed to look cute and Tomoya thinks she's cute as well. He never thinks she's homely or something, and later when she works at the restaurant she gets those random dudes hitting on her that Tomoya and Akio run off. Tomoya is supposed to be attractive too, by the way. In the game when he's dating Nagisa and talks to Fuuko's sister, she says Nagisa must have a "high standard for looks", and she's dating Yoshino who was a rockstar and is supposed to be extremely handsome.

I actually think they're complementary to each other. My personal recommendation would be to watch the anime first then read the VN but retards here get mad if you say that. The anime is indeed better than the VN in certain moments (particularly in After Story), but the VN is better than the anime for the majority of the story. I think if you liked one but didn't like the other you're probably retarded.

It doesn't get there 100% but it gets very close, and exceeds it in some places.
