I fucking hate this. I hate the idea that people want to play as characters that look like them in real life and it's a big reason we're seeing shit designs whether it's from people that want "representation" of minorities or those against it. Only brainless apes believe they can't put themselves in the shoes of a person that doesn't look like them.
I don't want to be reminded that I'm old. I am still perfectly fine reading manga and shit like that with characters that are younger and look nothing like me and can still immerse myself in it. Let me play as someone cool, able, that has charisma. If I'm already lacking all of that why would I want my games to be the same.
