I just realised that the Iron hands combat patrol is even worse value because you dont get any of the chapter specific stuff with it like bionic arms or unique heads.
Buying heavy intercessors individually is a better decision.
>>96132506It's a little more annoying than that and you know it.
>>96132567It really isn't
You need to spend less time here if this bugs you
>>96132567at risk of being labeled as a shitposter, can you explain to me why this is a problem
i genuinely don't understand
>>96132577And you need to spend more time here if you think this is acceptable behavior. Lurk more faggot
>>96132605You've really got nothing better going on in your life huh
>>96132600It just shows how dedicated this guy has made himself to making new threads. Nobody in a good mental state is this obsessive over being the one anon to make new warhammer /40kg/ threads I want him to get help.
I wanna be a Space Marine
>>96132378 (OP)>TQDuke Severus. All of them.
>>96128345I thought I had the time (and time management skills) to work on two different guard armies but I am clearly mistaken there.
The colour scheme is mostly staying after I finish my Severan Dominate project.
Here's what I've got so far on the other half of the Roman Guardsmen squad.
The primed metal Cadian is just for scale.
>>96132645what does it matter though
>>96132562I seriously think that even if you're just going for IH related stuff it's probably better to just get 2 of the IF one
10 Heavy Ints, 10 Terminators for the two characters, 2 squads of Tacts is just nice to have, and now you've got 2 Company Heroes, one to be built as normal, and then the rest you build as a BGV LT and 2 SGV.
>>96132661Big tranny energy from that image.
>>96132796>>96132478What does he ever even actually do? Nearest I can tell he's just the linchpin holding back the tide of DE invading everywhere all the time all at once. The biggest story development he could ever actually get is just dying and letting hell loose.
>>96132378 (OP)>TQLucius is fantastic and itโs a shame all that gets talked about is his revival power
>>96132818He's the only reason the Dark Eldar survive. He introduced the Kabal system and continues to prune Commoragh to avoid it imploding
Iโm 90% sure gw is gonna gradually change the appearance of the butcherโs nails within the next 10 years
>things that look like dreadlocks that make you irrationally violent and prone to anger
>>96132857oh look more invented scenarios to make yourself angry over
>>96132781It just gets annoying seeing someone mentally ill not being stopped. Whenever it is a thread he made it is the back of the mind that youโre enabling someoneโs self harmful behavior.

>>96132567
>>96132818>>96132839This is exactly why he's underrated. There's so much room in his character for GW to do cool stuff, but they choose not to.
>>96132866can you stop virtue signalling and give me your actual answer
>>96132818Right now Vect is now on the level of one of the sin-gods the Dark Eldar created, since he's now a living muse.

>>96133015Lmao recoil cackle
>>96133018Make a seperate thread about the announcements without the /40kg/ title and it will be way more chill than this one ever will be. Too many toxic personalities here in these haunts
>>96132378 (OP)>most underrated character in the entire settingWell the setting includes real history so I'd probably say Sir Isaac Newton? He invented newtonian physics but he's rarely talked about in Warhammer lore.
>>96133036Love that even him leaving makes nomodels like you seethe
I think warhammer stories are cooler if you don't know the context because then your brain fills in the gaps. They're designed to be accessible to normies so it doesn't really matter if you know the "lore" or not. I also preferred how in the earlier editions it wasn't clear what the deal with the emperor was.
>>96133018For as long as the mentally Iโll throoder does this annoyed anons will express their annoyance therefore there wonโt be a chill thread. Donโt shoot the messenger here.
>>96133033Carnac is a schizophrenic trolls boogeyman that he keeps seeing on warhammer 40k threads like this general.
He ranges from being in Vancouver to Toronto. Maybe the schizophrenic has lost the plot.

>>96133057I agree. But GW needs to pump out black library books for money. I just hope they never reveal what happened to the missing legions/primarchs. Its one of the coolest mysteries and I feel like knowing will be less interesting than not knowing.

>Kydov Front M41.997-Ongoing: >Following the eruption of warp storms in the Kydov subsector a Slaaneshi cult known as the Veiled Exultation managed to take over the capital city of the industrial world of New Kydov, itself the heart of the Kydov subsector. The Coal hearts responded in chapter strength after the defection of the first Guard regiments deployed to suppress the uprising. Only for a chaos ritual to summon a terrible localized warp storm over the city mid drop. The ritual also summoned a Keeper of Secrets and thinned reality allowing demons to spill out and reinforce the cultists. The resulting psychic shock wave killed most of the chapter's librarians as they tried to shield their brothers and inflicted hallucinations and catatonia in the survivors. Cut off from one another and landing off course the Coal Hearts were caught in rolling ambushes throughout the city they had come to liberate. The roiling storm of warp energy cut them off from orbital support and disrupted even local communications. >The chapterโs protective nature was turned against them as the populace were used as maddened human shields and driven into the chapterโs lines ahead of the traitors and warp spawn. Luckily the Keeper at the heart of the cult was banished by an inquisitorial strike force alongside chapter master Dante Kattai and his honour guard, though at the cost of all their lives. This dispelled the storm and allowed the fleet in orbit to provide support and evacuate the survivors before obliterating the corrupted metropolis. This promptly escalated to a general exterminatus of all major planetary population centers on orders from the Inquisition. After the chapter's mauling the inquisition followed up with an aggressive investigation believing only treachery could have led to it. However the chapter survivors were declared to be free of taint. The Coal Hearts were so badly damaged they focused all their efforts on rebuilding for the next decade.

>Despite their divided command structure, they have been somewhat successful in rebuilding. Cells of the Veiled Exultation festered throughout the subsector until the opening of the Great Rift led to a fresh general uprising. First the paradise world Illium, then the hive world Karnyx fell to the cultists. Even the fortress works of Orban came under siege as traitor forces from outside the sector flocked to the uprising.>Having partially recovered, but still below even half strength, the Coal Hearts responded with a monomaniacal fervour. A large part of their fleet was dedicated to crushing this latest insurrection. The force, led by captain Zorro of the 1st company has become known as the Kydovโs Judgement strike force and has visited terrible burning wrath on anyone found to be connected to the cult. >Entire cities and worlds have been destroyed to ensure the taint is properly cauterized. The war effortโs initial success was aided by the arrival of Torchbearer fleet Carnadine Rho and the primaris reinforcements that came with it. They put down over a dozen smaller uprisings and coups on the world of Kydov. Since the torchbearerโs departure however, all efforts have been stymied by near constant reinforcement of the traitors. Seemingly endless warbands of chaos marines crashing on the outer worlds of Lucium in successive waves. Luckily many of the traitor warbands are just as busy fighting one another and cannot concentrate their forces to strike at Luciumโs heart.

>This dynamic has changed recently, with the arrival of the Cacophany of Steel warband presenting an organized, large, and technically adept traitor threat. The conflict has been declared the Crusade of Kydovโs Judgement and already overstrained reserves of the Navy and Imperial Guard have bolstered the Coal Hearts in their efforts, though not without some brief infighting of their own. The Cacophony first turned their attention on Orban, finally overwhelming its defenders, then made several smaller raids on Hexos.>After the destruction of Hexos and a naval defeat at the Yards of Dniayntos at rhe hands of the Cacophany of Steelโs main fleet, the Kydovโs Judgement crusade now stands on the back foot. Hope is not lost yet. The Cacophony and Veiled Exultation have differing goals and fighting between the cult and warband has already slowed the Cacophonyโs momentum. The Coal Heart detachment to the crusade, suffering from considerable damage after Dnyaintos, have briefly returned to Oracleus to recover and resupply while the imperial guard fortifies those parts of Kydov who have remained loyal thus far.

>Chapter Founding ~Millenium 35>Nature of founding: The Coal Hearts were founded at some point during the confused times of the Nova Terra Interregnum and the Age of Apostasy. The exact details of the foundingโs original nature in wider imperial records have been largely lost in the fighting endemic to the time.>The chapter, however, retains its own records. Internal stories about their founding largely centres around Ur'gol Ke'te, a veteran in the Salamanderโs chapter. He belonged to a radical faction of the Promethean Creed that had come into existence during the Nova Terra Interregnum. They outright worshipped the emperor as a god, influenced by the nascent ecclesiarchy and in conflict with the mainstream chapter cult. By the end of his service in the Interregnum he had received considerable censure for his conduct though avoided outright punishment. He soon gathered support from within the chapter and several nocturneian clans while further refining the burgeoning faith. This put him in conflict with the Salamanders chaplaincy though his beliefs were compelling and more among the chapterโs numbers began to agree with him.The situation was resolved when a new founding was declared to shore up several regions of the Imperium. One of them was the Ghoul Stars. Due to the regionโs unique dangers Salamander geneseed was chosen for one of the chapters.>The leadership of the chapter at that time took the opportunity to remove the cult without bloodshed. UrโGol and his adherents were assigned to the initial cadre of a new chapter. Far away from Nocturne and his former brothers. It was intended to be a form of honourable exile. The mortal followers of the nascent imperial faith variant were also conscripted to serve as auxiliaries, known as Bondforged, for the exiles and sent with them. During their long travels the new faith and philosophy became more fervent and was eventually codified in the Horologium Lux.

>>96134018Cypher is a utility piece used in most CSM list because he's so good, so really whatever you please, then you just slot him in. He isn't really a build around but I guess if you want to make him themed you'll want lots of legionaries and basically a very marine-like army.

>>96133978so, assuming this isnt just some kind of b8 or trolling, you can construct your own UV box or can (like pic related) for about $15-20. no need for a fancy expensive branded option, a cheap strip of uv lights, some hvac tape and a box or can is all you need.
material for printing is about $30 for about 100-150 miniatures worth of printing. less if you do big monsters or tanks, but still, a fairly negligible cost as far as miniatures go. my average squad of 10 miniatures comes out to about $1.50 in resin
>spaceyou need about 3x3 square feet for the printer itself, another 3x3 space for cleaning, and then like 1 foot of space for a curing can. so all together a single 8x4 folding table worth of space is enough. almost anyone can manage that. as far as venting goes, if you cant get a separate room or open windows with a fan, there is also options for a fume box with ductwork which arent terribly expensive.
printing does have hurdles, there is a learning curve, the toxicity of the chemicals is an issue, legality of proxy miniatures at your local club, etc, but cost really isnt a hurdle at all, especially compared to actual GW plastic. all said and done you can buy a printer and have a printed army for like $250.

>>96134091Why not? I have other marines that have fee that are attached to tactical rocks, wouldnโt be too crazy to think GW could just have the base be put together in parts with feet attached to rocks. Which would be dumb regardless and I hope GW doesnโt do it.
>>96134070t.3dprintersalseman
>>96134108You use infiltrate not to get closer but to be able to place them last in good places to peak out. you always want to be careful against fast melee armies you have two options, hold way back and deny them a charge against any of your infiltrators, while covering firing lanes. Or you want to go all out and hem them in by infiltrating as close as possible. This method you're trading away your infiltrators if they go first to limit their forward distance, or if you go first you can really block their infantry in to buy time but your infiltrators will also probably die on their first turn.
and since stealth suits are expensive and have a good effect its better to keep em back.
>>96134094>so all together a single 8x4 folding table worth of space is enough. almost anyone can manage that. Almost anyone that does not live in an apartment anon

>>96134373In defense of GW's design/painting team, they have spent their whole lives with British women as their only reference point. Of course they made her ugly.
>>96134829Not true, it's just that for most people their lives are stabilized into routine by their later 20s and into their 30s. By then your career path is pretty much on a course, so are relationships, friends, hobbies, etc, a lot of things are now pretty set. You are no longer constantly exposed to new experiences & demands that you need to learn quickly in order to keep up, and your mind adapts to a more steady pace. That's also why time seems to go by quickly if you live a routine life rather than an eventful one. There's a bunch of conflicting scientific findings about how we work as we age, but something they all have in common is that you are a reflection of your lifestyle, so it really depends. If you maintain healthy habits, exercise, and experiencing new things regularly your mind is no less sharp than it was in your 20s. The longer you go without any of those things, the more the lack of them starts to slow you down and dull your mind.

By forcing you into melee and using special kills to regenerate your health, it brought a continual action flair that nothing else at the time had.

But you have to keep in mind that milking things for merch wasn't much of a thing in 2011, and GW were taking their first tightly-controlled steps in licensing their IP. >>96135587Darkmech don't really have a central dogma.
During the Schism of Mars the main issue was the divinity of the Emperor. Loyalists obeyed the Treaty of Olympus and maintained that the Emperor was the Omnissiah - the real world incarnation of the Machine God's tri-unity (Machine God, Omnissiah, Motive Force), while the heretics considered him to be a pretender.
But after ten millennia there are too many different sects within darkmech to count. Unlike admech they're not bound together by any overarching treaties and can just do whatever the fuck they want, so they do.
One of the popular beliefs they hold is that tri-unity of man, machine and daemon can surpass the sum of its parts and approach the divine. But there are plenty of darkmech factions that just use daemons as power sources/pilots/slaves.

I think a big change is that when I started I was very lazy about cleaning up spills, especially when laying down the blue basecoats. "I'll just cover it later its fine" but then when I'd apply the runelord brass the spills would be noticeable.
Now because Im faster in other areas of painting (all the details like the armor shine or lightning or general highlighting are much less timeconsuming) I can take my time more on the initial basecoating aspects.

Assault ints underperform for me as well, but I don't have much practice moving them around.
Infernus are very good, but my opponents focus them down.
Terminators kinda suck, I don't think giving them a leader is worth at all.
My best performing unit has been a gladiator lancer, my infantry rushes in and dies while the tank usually gets to shoot all game.
Ballistus is nice too, but less consistent
Last game I tried impulsor with 5 infernus in it and that was surprisingly good. 12+d6 movement with an invuln and firing deck is pretty good.
Sternguard tend to kill more than I expect, but they still die quickly.
I don't have the named characters yet, OR the BGV

>>96136127Gladiator lancers are popular. Ballistus dreads are spammed often.
>>96136144Okay here we go; the terminators will be useless. Get more eradicators instead. I run 12. Gladiators do just as well, I just prefer erads.
Gravis captain is useless for eradicators and currently overcosted. Aggressors are hilariously squishy with how common D3 is now and will die horribly. Replace the grav cap with company heroes for Vulkan to join. Replace the aggressors with another impulsor for carting around your infernus marines who you should split into five man squads.
You have the transport arrangement backwards because of how the game works. Adrax+ BGV, and ideally a lieutenant with the enhancement that lets them ignore modifiers go in the land raider. You use it to stage for a charge or deliver one outright. Your erads should jog along behind it so that in the fight phase you can hop in for a command point and do a transport shuffle.
Vulkan starts on foot and uses free assault to spot for his ability. If he starts the game in a transport his objective buff ability turn off because he isnโt on the battlefield. He can do it from reserves though for some fucking reason, as long as heโs not in a a transport in reserves.
What I don't like about GWs current release schedule is that by the time anything comes out you aren't as interested anymore
Since Horus Heresy is moving to The Scouring. Does this mean that Mk7 space marines will be coming back?
How will GW handle the players who want to field firstborn MK7 marines in 40k games?
Are the Space Wolves having what looks like different Mks of armor mixed with primaris armor a sign of GW winding up for such changes by showing some chapters (I know SW are a legion) needing to jury rig armor together?

>"They lined up in silence. Not a warrior was out of place. They guessed something important was afoot. They appeared to Messinius like automata. Long-established Chapters of Space Marines had a less uniform look. Their armour was decorated with marks of honour; artificer-crafted plates replaced standard-issue pieces; older marks of wargear were worn alongside the newer. Not so with Cawlโs creations. They were all the same. That would change in time. Messinius resolved to make it so, to coax the individuals from these mass-produced saviours of humanity."

That was me and Lego Rock Raiders.
This feeling might be the same for many space marine fans. Or they look at the new heresy marine proportions and genuinely want MK7 to get that treatment. Mostly because I feel as though a lot of criticism towards the Mk7 was their stature and proportions.
>Especially in the context of the heresy boxnaughts and mark 7 were alwasy mocked for looking worse than their heresy counterparts. That's because ForgeWorld did nearly everything right. >That's because ForgeWorld did nearly everything right. One of the things they did wrong was have bad quality control of their resin that was sometimes just as awful as Finecast.Nah they have quite a few resin sculpts that were extremely resin derp, like the old destroyers were so obviously resin it hurt.
>That kind of contradicts the stagnation theme of Warhammer 40k.the new narrative is decay following the heresy then a booster shot with guilliman, like mark 8 was always better than 7 aswell but they pretend its super rare for marines to have it outside of deathwatch
>>96136300>made to explicitly not include mark 7 or Mars Rhinos, despite both being in the heresySo which is it?
>The mark 7 favortism is contrarianismOr people who liked the thing never had to talk about it because their suits were always available? I remember back in 3-4e days MkVI was the hot shit and all the MkVI bits I had sold very well to people who wanted all MkVI armies (like back in the good old days of RT). When FW made their Red Scorpions, MkIV was the hot shit. With HH 2.0 the circle had closed and people were bitching about MkVI in, "muh HH," acting as if it was never really a thing and GW forcing down it down our throats. With plastic MkIII, IV and VI in the bag, people kept asking for the best marks, 2 and 5. Now that MkII is out soon, you can bet MkV will be the hot shit right up until they make plastic versions of it.
>>96136378>So which is it?The heresy table top game was always trying to not include citadel plastic as often as possible, but mark 7 has always been in the heresy as a footnote

I hope to god this book actually stays canon and isn't immediately overwritten by GW trying to make Tau "actually evil Grimdark".
Tau being the result of just very strong ideological upbringing and conditioning, propaganda and ingrained caste loyalty is so much better than the "uhh Pheromones " bullshit. I like how the Ethereals are presented more like super charismatic celebrities like think how 80s MJ fans feel about Michael Jackson (https://youtu.be/jl-LykdDi7I?si=8wPUuzGclsuWN0fA&t=117) with the charisma of Tom Cruise, George Clooney and Obama rolled into one. It's also interesting how Ethereals are also ""Trapped"" by the caste system. Say you are an Ethereal and you wanted to be a painter? Well go fuck yourself.
Of course GW can't stand actually good, incredibly well thought out lore, so I doubt this book's positions are going to last long.

>>96136694As much as I love to blame GW for everything, it's really not their fault that Warhammer fans can't understand subtle writing. When half the fanbase still thinks the Imperium are good guys, I don't blame gdubs for thinking they needed to make the Tau more overtly evil to sell more figures (the lore is supplementary after all.)
I think the most annoying part is that watering down the lore hasn't even done anything to save their reputation. Now instead of hating the Tau for being "too nice", people just misrepresent and parade around any instance of them doing anything bad. You pretty much can't talk about the Tau online without some retard chiming in with something about sterilization, reeducation camps, and of course mind control. Hell, the sterilization thing only comes from an offhanded mention in the Deathwatch core rules and was almost immediately retconned, but people still believe it's hard canon and that every human in the empire is walking around with ED.

>>96136747>>96136755Makes you wonder why DE have trouble getting their hands on it.
I'll say, it'd be funny if it was like crypto mining, where huge banks of psychic machinery churned tiny morsels of Immaterium into bits that was then cultivated by bonesingers into the wraithbone we know.
>>96136761>Meanwhile in reality they die in droves or suffer for years before scraping a phyrric victory.>UM aren't marysues>just ignore them killing a c'tan shard>just ignore them having one of the strongest if not the strongest psyker of the imperium, that blows eldar out of the water>just ignore them somehow being present fucking everywhereC'mon on now. >>96136766>Makes you wonder why DE have trouble getting their hands on it.You still need psykers in the form of Bonesingers to mold and create the wraithbone.
And DEldar have athrophied psychic powers or none at all, meaning they can't make wraithbone.
Nevermind the fact that one of the few laws in Commoragh is the ban on psychic powers due to the Dysjunctions it can cause, weirdly enough it's one of the few laws that everyone seems following there, which is very funny to me.

Spirit stones are enough for Eldar to need to interact with the material world. The mining stuff is stupid, especially since it conflicts so much with Eldar's post-scarcity luxury lifestyle and the old lore where Eldar of the Eldar Empire age could literally craft whatever they wanted from thin air.

Another is that there was some cheese with the hover vehicles allowing Eldar troops to shoot while hiding behind vehicles.
But Dark Eldar are kind of shit and super underrepresented on the tabletop, why do the strengths of Eldar, not also flow to Dark Eldar, when both stat wise aren't actually "great" armies.

>>96137394A shame I was planning to post some Victoria Secrets models
>>96137408Eldar are actually balanced right now for once
>>96137408>Funny how Eldar have always been a top WAAC faction blessed with good rules since 2nd. They've been always viable one way or another, but their players can't stop whiningTurns out broken rules doesn't help when models and lore sucks.
Meanwhile both Tau and Necrons got huge lore revamp and become most popular xeno armies.
Really makes you think
>>96137399>he doesn't know>>96137406You're supposed to play KT PvE at home or with a friend as coop, not in a sweaty LGS, anon.

Image limit should be the rule for new threads, or the image limit should be increased why do we have to have hours of no images at the end of every thread
>>96137427>the image limit should be increasedDefinitely, for all boards.
>>96137427>Image limit should be the rule for new threadsit is, but anons here have PTSD after so many retarded throoders
>>96137427Image limit should equal bump limit, not be half of it
>>96137381And what has that to do with the miniatures?
>>96135194The real question is when will a Firewarrior 2 come out that is more battlesuit focused and has battlesuit customization in it.
>>96132562The CP doesn't have uphrades?
>>96134315I hate that this mini leaked and has turned up literally nowhere in announcements. Lady Malys has been on my 'want' list for a long time, and on my brother's even longer. T'is a cruel fate, being a Dark Eldar fan.
