People seem to forget that one of the fears Malcador and Big E BOTH had in the books was that if Big E ascended the Golden Throne, that what went into the Throne wouldn't necessarily be what would leave it. It's never specified what that means, but many people assume either another entity would eventually come to inhabit the shell of Big E's body, or that his personality would fragment and that what was left would be something that is an enemy of humanity.

Remember that in the last book or so of HH, Big E revealed to one of his personal guards that he had his doubts in humanity's future, and even when Girlyman was revived and met with him, Big E left Girlyman disenfranchised

The plan is to print some Artemia Pattern Hellhounds. They'll be the hellhounds.
While the regular hellhound plastic kit will represent devildogs. The big fuel tank on the back will make it easier for opponents and myself to tell which tank is which at tabletop distance.

Btw, little tip for anyone that wants to make gore/slime effect. Get some UHU polymer glue and Tamiya clear paints and mix in a couple drops to the polymer glue. Let it set for about 10sec then use a toothpick to spread it across the surface that you want to show slime/gore

The BSF stuff is where I started, so it's a lot less refined than my later work. Thanks. It takes a lot of time for an army sure, but one of my goals when I got back into 40k was to paint with the patience and intent I lacked the discipline to cultivate when I was younger. So each guy takes me a while because I'm still an amateur painter and I go slow, but I am proud of every single one. The flames are actually pretty easy and quick, they only take about 15 minutes and they're only on 5 Terminators rather than the whole army. The armor trim is what takes the longest because it requires 2 coats.

There's a couple different things on there you're probably identifying as rust. For anywhere you see actual streaking rust effects, most clearly visible on the areas with painted plating, that's AK enamel rust streaks. This was my first project using it, and it wasn't too bad of an experience.

For the brighter, more evenly distributed orange-brown stuff that's just my usual dust weathering method which is Skrag Brown watered down a lot and liberally applied, sometimes followed by a drybrush of the same where I think the dirt would stay heavy.

Once you are old and competent enough you get promoted to First Company and become a Veteran, usually after centuries of service. They're deployed as support to other companies, and they act as stopgaps.
Terminator armour is the rarest and most powerful, seeing use whenever the chapter has it (Sometimes other veterans may be using the only suits).
The rest of First Company is then deployed on a case-by-case basis. Generally speaking, the battlefield role is figured out first and Veterans are deployed in the style that suits them. If you want your Marines to do a tactical retreat after securing an objective, you give the best marksmen Marines combi weapons and use them as Sternguard.
If you need to quickly punch certain objectives hard and fast, you get the most storied Assault veterans and use as Vanguard.
