I'm very bad for leaving brushes loaded when doing lots of glazing. So not as long as someone more attentive but still a decent length of time. I've done all my lamenters and about 2000pts of aos grots, like 300pts of aos nighthaunt for warcry, 1000pts of skeletons along with maybe 60-70 minis for warcry/boxed games and have maybe like 20 size 1s and 30 size 3 left over. You can also bring them back to life really easily with a cup of isopropyl and a cup of boiling water so they can be fixed if you have a split or hook. But when they get slightly too annoying to fix I just pitch them.

pro tip by me. first get them in your pain water, pull out and while you get rid of the excess water twirl them on the paper towel then get nuln oil or any wash. dunk the brush in and then get the excess off on a paper towel while twirling aka doing a spinning motion. then dunk in water again, do the twirl thing and let the brush sit for a few hoers to a day. the hair will remember the shape it has to stay. serves me well.

Agreed with the points. But I just really dislike 10th as a whole. It feels way to "gamey" in most of its mechanics and I hate its list building system.
To put a petty example of mine, both games have the same special rule under different names. Rending and lethal hits. Both allow, on a hit of 6, for the hit to wound automatically. In 30k this is something inherent of certain weapons. In 40k this is something that many characters or army rules give out just because. No logic behind it beyond it makes stuff stronger. No justification in-universe. It irks me a lot.

Years ago I signed up for a league in a LGS that was quite a bit far from where I lived but I didn't have a car so it was the only place I could go by public transport (carrying a warhammer army by bus is shit don't do it). After several games of models not just unpainted, but a couple against straight up empty bases I got paired with a random kid that seemed to have literal, clinical mental problems. For painting they are one of the most pain in the ass armies in the entire game. Definitely test the waters with a unit of rubrics before you commit to any major purchases and make sure you don't hate making them up.
As for play, they have a lot of tricky tactical depth but they're not so hard to learn I would say a novice shouldn't start them. They're probably quite rewarding to learn with as there's lots of room to grow as a player.

- you have small range of units, you if you buy just what you like, it will be always good for your army

- army just looks complicated, as soon as you try their mechanics for 2-3 times, you'll get it completely

- they have not that big number of units in the army on average, so it's easier to control them during the game

- they're actually easy to paint. You just base them with whatever color you like: blue, red, sand, anything. The wash with nuln oil or something like skeleton horde. This is a lot better conceptually than judgement tokens. Having an army rule that works without needing to lose your army to use it is great. Both of the yield options sound good and being able to switch between them by spending YP (and getting bonuses from the act of spending YP itself) is a really fun way to go about it. All wargear on models is now separated into tiers, and the cost of a model increases or decreases based on the tier.

For example, the basic 'Intercessor' squad has 3 tiers.
Tier 0, at 75 points, has 5 Marines with Bolt Rifles and a grenade launcher
Tier 1, at 80 Pts, allows for the Sgt to wield a Power Fist, Power Weapon, and for the squad to have a Grenade Launcher
Tier 2, at 85pts, allows for the Sgt to wield a Thunder Hammer in addition to the above. As it now costs more, the Thunder Hammer's profile army-wide is increased to be more of a straight upgrade over Fists instead of a sidegrade.
Increasing the squad size is an additional bonus cost, in this case, 75 points.


For a more complex unit like Drukhari Scourges:
Tier 0, at 50 Points, has 5 Scourges with Shardcarbines
Tier 1, at 60 points, has 5 scourges with Shredders or Splinter Cannons
Tier 2, at 80 pts, has 5 Scourges with Heat Lance/Haywire/Dark Lance/Blasters
Increasing the squad size is an additional cost, in this case 50 points - which will get you the Solarite, 4 Heavy weapon scourges and 5 shardcarbine scourges for 130 points.

I think by separating wargear into tiers and having the view of "If you unlock it, go nuts" makes wargear costs more attractive since agonizing over the exact weapon loadout of a unit might suck, but if it's pay 5 points and your Sgt can have a powerfist and the rest of the squad gets a plasma pistol, essentially bundling wargear together, it allows for list fine-tuning and has a better list building experience. It also allows for 'premium' weapon options with much higher statlines - Thunderhammers could be the premium melee weapon for characters and as a result be expensive but much more deadly.

Work on what then was known as the MkV armour began after MkIV production was finalized. It took lessons learned from that suit and was meant to be the next step, fixing issues and simplifying production and maintenance, while keeping as much of the advancements as possible. Due to the Heresy the project was forced out the door as the MkVI (MkV Heresy Armour managed to get pushed out before it) while the machinery and materials were moved from Mars to Terra to finalize the project, creating the MkVII. Both are mechanically similar enough that they've remained in service till M41.

Of course, over the years the fluff has gone back and forth. Sometimes MkVI entered service before the Heresy (so why is it VI and not V?) and sometimes it was designed as a recon armour from the start.

Very happy here. I'm glad to see GW finally bit the bullet and trashed JT because they cannot balance them. JT were either completely busted or felt awful because you threw away half your army for the rest to function at baseline. This is going to feel much better to play with, where you can either go extremely defensive and board points and be really tough, or go for more offensive and constantly spend YP to increase your attack. Without seeing a lick of list building we've already got 2 ways to play the faction.
Some concerns I have, though:
>Nothing giving us a bonus to wound means that our guns need to have higher strength than the index. We were balanced around having +1 to wound so without that our guns will be terrible if they don't change. I trust that they took this into consideration, I'm just a bit worried.
>Everything is still +1 to hit and not +1 to WS/BS, meaning no combos with Heavy and other +1 to hit bonuses like the iron-master. the fact that you physically cannot accumulate the YT to do that until like turn 3 at the earliest, and thats assuming you are aggressive with controling your opponents deployment zone. you get 1 per turn by default, and you need 7 to flip the meter. maybe you get lucky and get into the oppoents zone and snatch one objective from them early on, but thats gonna be difficult while most of their army is still alive.

they gave you 4 units completely maxed for free, and i have yet to face off against an opponent that has more than 4 priority targets. most people build their lists around 2-3 serious threats from what i've played. since the update that gave them 4 JTs at the start i have never felt wanting for JTs to mark important targets.

if has also been my experience that a lot of the most dangerous stuff in the opponents army doesnt need to be anywhere near objectives to do its job, and arent usually scoring units anyways.

i dont want to write it off until i've played it some and seen the rest of the codex for context, but as it is now, it cedes a lot of control over your army to your opponents decisions, which is almost always a bad thing. like, why does an enemy dorn or riptide ever need to stand near an objective? so they can just ignore the first several turns of hit buffs for our whole army.

You bring up some really good points, and honestly I just can't refute them with what we have in front of us. All I can say is that even if this rule turns out to be pretty bad, I'm still preferring this to JT. It looks a lot more fun to play with to me.
I guess the only thing I can kinda refute is that I think you're being a bit conservative with how many YP you get. I think that you can be aggressive and get yourself in defensive mode turn 2 pretty easily, considering that you can use your infiltrators, bikes, and transports to capture objectives quickly to get yourself points early on. You get into semantics on whether or not you're still throwing away units, but this still feels a lot better than literally tossing points into a fire to gain bonuses. And plus, this is something that's much easier to balance than JT moving forward. Leagues not doing so hot? Give them more YP or reduce YP costs. Leagues doing too well? Do the opposite.

They are distinct enough from "elves" to be their own thing. I normally dislike elves.

I love the "last survivors in space" ancle ever since Homeworld. The fact that the various games have made them sound like the Quarian also trigger my childhood/teenage love of those aliens.

Their main gimmick in Battlefleet Gothic was the solar sails which vibe with my love of age of sails and, again, from childhood, treasure planet.

Aspect warriors are a smorgasbord of colors and flavor, there's something for all styles, and they are a great excuse to paint something outside of your normal army colours.

I like having "wizards" sprinkled around the army, though the current edition blows chunks when it comes to that feeling.

I love the helmets across the board, they look like some sort of tribal mask which again makes the army look unique.

They go fast. In editions past they actually MOVED more then 6 inches and still shot their load. A mute point these days I guess.

Their vehicles looks sleek as hell. Again, coming from an age where the Rhino was all I saw, before I got into the Eldar. The size and panels BEGGED for clean paint jobs.
