I really like this cyoa but the class art is a bit out of place, sort of, and the powers suck and are not balanced at all. Does it even say how powerful you are in relation to the rest of the place? How many others have your power set? If what you can do is common then it’s probably a constant battleground and that’s not fun.

The thing I don't see people mention about JRPG Traitor is that it's a JRPG. These powers aren't unique, you're going to be fighting a party that's learned some of the same busted skills and maybe some different ones on their quest to save the world and then slay god. You are most likely, depending on your choices, the dramabaiting boss that bars the party's path in the room before the enemy's innermost sanctum. Direct victory is only one of the possibilities, I don't think you'll be overpowering an entire party that's almost at your strength without a cunning and well-constructed build. Also, which of the princesses is best? The diddler needs the rope desu but the bandit is cool.

Looking at the free powers. Magic knights get one basic physical, attune one element and can buff that element to get resistances and stronger spells.
Spellblades otoh get an element, the ability to create weapons from that element and a dispel/mana debuff.

To me it seems that magic knights are more focused on defense and augmenting their martial power with magic, while spellblades are more aggressive with a focus on countering the enemies abilities.

Certainly, but it's a JRPG party, they're all exceptionally skilled, rare, and driven individuals by definition. There's probably more power flowing through the party and their antithesis in the Overlord than there is anywhere outside of the Aspects themselves. I imagine the traitor being like 5-10 points ahead and better at using his skills, but the party aren't jobbers. Otherwise they wouldn't be the party.

>>96319095
True. If you do things right, you'll be much stronger than any one of the party members. However, there's six of them. Even if we assume you're threefold stronger, a reasonable assumption for the average JRPG Traitor that begins the game strong and gets even stronger by next encounter, they're still twice your strength as an aggregate.

>>96319143
Bold choices, I can respect it.

>>96319166
It's more fun for me to extrapolate what the party's builds might look like and how that syncs up against mine than to choose in a vacuum, I guess. I've got no meta-justification for this and don't care to go digging for one. Cool fights are cooler when they're close. Intriguing choices of princess.

>>96319195
Most likely because it's a western author with the idea of channeling their conception of a JRPG into their work. I think it's JRPGesque but not necessarily as eastern as, say, the monstergirl world CYOA by Apotheosis.

What do you guys think of this system for dungeon delving?
>A tribe of fairies live in the city next to the dungeon they are the only one able to interact with it meaning opening the doors between floors and activating the emergency system to get people out of there with a wait of a few minutes.
>They are extremely weak but if they die they are reborn outside the labyrinth they want nothing more than to reach the bottom of the labyrinth but are too weak to do so.
>So they ally with adventurers to explore the labyrinth they serve as their bodyguards and they as lifelines and to activate the elevators between levels.
>If a party loses their fairy they are practically dead as they have no way to escape but people take the risk because the place is an infinite source of wealth if you can manage to return with loot.

both fairy guide companion and evil fairies are cliche so pick your poison.
But really the boundary between a trope and a cliche is thin it all depends on the execution and if you want to make good evil fairies in a cyoa don't be dumb and make it direct, you need to make it subtle on the surface they must appear as just friendly companions. You need to keep the vague lore snippets buried in random throw away lore blurps on companion descriptions, rooms, etc. How some of the fairies are freshly new, some have weird quirks, some said to bring bad luck to adventurers. Then you have to drop some hints about the dungeon growing, blurps about the high fatality rate of adventurers. But you don't state any of this obviously that is the main mistake when writing an evil trickster, you actually need to make them trick the audience, don't even state it at the end of the cyoa that the fairies are evil on the surface everything needs to look clean and nice. Let the player try to piece it together from the lore snippets and even then they should still be doubting themselves is this actually true or are they just paranoid and thinking too deep.

No, fairies in medieval tales had a mix of moralities. Stop getting your worldview from Changeling. Some were evil, some were good, some were merely capricious. Plenty of good fairies in fairy tales, and often times people punished by them did something morally evil like betray hospitality laws.

The word for angel, "Mal'akh" just means "messanger". It describes a function, not a form.

There are several types of angels whose appearance is described, or implied, in the Hebrew Bible. The best known ones are these are the Cherubim guarding the garden of Eden, and are also located below God's throne. Ezekiel describes them like this: "Each of them had four faces and four wings, with straight feet with a sole like the sole of a calf's foot, and hands of a man under their wings. Each had four faces: The face of a man, the face of a lion on the right side, the face of an ox on the left side, and the face of an eagle."

The angels that appear to Abraham had looked completely human.

The Seraphim ("burning ones") are described in the book of Isaiah as having six wings, two covering the face, two covering the feet, and two used for flying.
Others are described. Some look like wheels (Ophanim), some look like lightning (Hashmallim), some are giant humanoids (Bene Elohim), etc.

Not sure why Christians hate this. Are they too similar to demons? Aren’t demons just fallen angels?

The argument is not made that they're not evil. You are not meant to think they are not evil. Changeling does not make an argument for moral relativism. Only Keepers are this. The book (both editions actually) make it apparent and quite clear that this only applies to fae who decide to get involved with mortals, as it never turns out great for the mortals.

The vast, VAST majority of true fae don’t care at all about what goes on outside Arcadia.

>The autism and story shit is just the reason the Fae are rapists.
No it’s the reason why they’re compared to insane schizophrenics. Love and hate to them are the same, since there’s love and hate embodying them - their story. You're arguing lore irrelevancies in the face of me plainly stating the game's themes and the true fae's role in that theme. The true fae that you interact with, your keeper and their agents, are allegorically evil rapists. That there are fae uninterested in you is irrelevant. The goal is to point out that these fae you interact with are objectively evil. The reason this is being pointed out is that fae being evil on /tg/ was popularized first and foremost by Changeling, to the point where people insist its lore applies absolutely to fairies in fairy tales and in other media.

There's options for world building that I tend to like that isn't found much in other CYOAs. Since I tend to ignore most of the fetish options, I end up saving on points. I unironically enjoyed Dragonfall as well for the freedom in dragon design. Ignored the companions though. I see the point, without strong antagonism, there isn't really a threat. I don't mean to imply other characters aren't strong in ways outside of the class system, and of course they could dabble in multiple skills, but not the mastery you have the capacity for. Red Hand rides a genetically modified rhino and has access to healer coffins, Xax is a Builder Spider with ozone breath, Bloom's bio mass is around 10 square miles of hypae, etc.

Tok yes, but I don't care and he is not the only one. There was another CYOA that made you a forever virgin by having your hymen grow back after sex if you wanted more points. Breaking your average hymen is not that bad nor painful if you're properly wet or lubed up so it was free real estate. It would have to specifically say that your hymen was tough enough that it is difficult to tear without a surgical procedure.

It still is a good cyoa, we just moved on. Everyone that read it at this point made their build/s. Me included.

And my main build is without the author giving me any blessing. Just like an anon said months ago, everything is said about this cyoa, just look at the recopilation of the answers of the author. Whats more there to discuss?

It's basically like if I post now OR. Everyone made their builds, everything is discussed. At most, in a few years, a wave of newfags could find it. But right now I have so much entropist in my head I don't need to read it, I basically memorized it with the amount of times I read it when we were playing it.

>Stella is just boring in comparison.
That's just because you don't know what to do with her, in a narrative sense. She is a classic hero type, but the situation with her sisters still exists with her. Stella is the option if you want to deal with her family drama in a complete way. If you want Adelina and Aurea as part of a functioning family Stella is the way to go, or if you want the drive the entire family into suffering(you monster) she's still the option. Personally I think there is a great story to tell of Alyssa becoming queen while Stella is the hero that exposed Adelina, and brought Aurea back. Where both Adelina and Aurea's crimes have to be at least publicly forgiven due to their achievements against the 7th Overlord and their forces, resulting in an uneasy family situation, but where they are a family again. Also I think it's cool to have Stella explaining everything she knows about the family drama and the situation in court to Alyssa after they end up fighting together against dream beasts to save some place.

With several of the Overlords though I think it's quite possible that both the knights Alyssa is with and Aurea's bandits end up together trying to save the common man. With Stella as the hero in that situation she can work to unite those forces, as where if Aurea is the hero it would be a matter of one of the forces dominating the other.

>Even here everyone is different some might star to see diminishing returns once they become strong enough to lift a person with one arm another once they are capable of felling a tree with a couple punches.

To mitigate the damage? The war happens where (you) live, and ZBG posted a pdf of what happens if (you) simply sit around watch the carnage. Most of them die, and the final winner (Lucianna of House Leo) develops severe PTSD and survivor's guilt.

>Gender
Female (its all part of the plan, I don't want to be a woman)
>Demon Impact
Demon arm. The only one that does not change your mind or is a very obvious weak point in combat (Appeasament is treated as a weakpoint to exploit against angels, for example)
>Lust Eyes
Split Eye of Form Duality. Mandatory Immunity to the majority of demon eyes, almost immunity to the rare 5 cost eyes and some resistance to 10 cost eyes. Apart from that, this eyes is a super hax eye, gives offense, defense, healing, utility and mindfuckery. Also, lets me be a man despite picking female
>Auras
Demon Fist Brawling T2. Its the main method of fighting, cursed ones are already stronger than any threat below 3 and equal to the threats at 3 the majority of time, so with this at T1 you would already be fine for a lot of enemies, T2 makes it even better.
Ultimate Sword Arts T2. After strength and durability, the enhanced speed and dexterity is king, long ranged move included. With T2 you have a super powerful space attack and a way to create portals. With just those two auras you would have speed and strength to defeat any lvl 3 threat rather easy.
Ninjutsu Stealth Arts T1. The even more enhanced speed and agility to make more probably the sword arts to land. Speed is king. The added stealth is also fine because I imagine work will happen at night and will be a secret to the rest of people.

>Uniform
Revealing. Now the plan is realized. Thanks to this I could get the Split Eye of duality with just demon arm as an impact. I don't know how the gender restriction works with split eye so I picked the female option to be "legal". I guess I would be born a girl but change my gender into male and say I am the twin brother and my sister is sick or something. It also helps to romance Setsuna as the description of the uniform confirms she is lesbian and likes the player if they are female, so it should be easy to make her fall for the male version.

I agree about the art, though. Troy X is way too into Dejah Thoris, for one thing. And some of the candidates - like the two weightlifting sisters - well, if that was the best art he could find, I wonder why he didn't rewrite them to match what he could find.

Everyone but the 5 lvl threats. Everything lvl 3 and below are not hard at all with this build.
For the lvl 4 threats I will probably get a team to help me. I take them mainly because it looks like something you should do, stopping demon cults, punishing the betrayer, killing evil spirits, fighting angels. Should be hard but very doable.

Lvl5 while not impossible are very hard and not my cup of tea.

>Gear
Divining Cards. Great power, not really a drawback.
Mage's Broomstick. Cleaning should not be a problem nor hard with these auras.
Spirit Blade. For the use of my sword arts, if I end up too fed up I will ask a companion to give me another sword and gift this one to someone else.
Argon Energy Gun. Gifted to a companion. Great gun with barely a drawback if used with a brain.
>Companions
Priscilla. Cute kid and range based attack. Her eye is interesting to explore. I would gift her the argon gun.
Fading Schoolgirl. Out of pity mainly. She is still useful tho and would make my stealth even better. I would look up for a way to get her a real body, maybe exploring the uses of my eye to invert states (althought it does not work with life and death) and search for someone with the right eye. We have all the time in the world given I could change old-young with myself to not die of old age and also use it with any important person in my life.
Vampire Boy. He is strong and I could take an empty bag of blood and invert it to be full of blood again.
Boy with a pale shadow. Out of pity, I would try to make him healthier using my eye and maybe finding the spirit that almost killed him, maybe that would help him or let my eye help him.
Star Watching Student. She is cute.
Yakuza Son. I want that money, also a little brother that admires you should feel good. I would also use his father's yakuza when the apocalypse zombie happens to help us.

I don't know anon. As written not a single one of the starting magics are even conceptually close to divination (maybe the Dark Arts "rituals" could do something similar? Or minor druidism to replicate a monsters magical sensory organs?). If you're making a build under the assumption you'll have divination magic "eventually" so the information-giving Interfaces don't matter, you might be sorely disappointed. If spells are only the transformation of mana but not the *result* of mana, then mana can affect space and time. As in, mana while it is transforming cannot affect space and time, but "settled down" mana can. This means that spells cannot teleport you, but they can create something that teleports you.
